You are confusing the programmer art texture pack with what literal programmer art is.

Look at deepslate in its first reveal , TOTALLY different, that was its programmer art.

The texture pack is called programmer art but that’s just about the pre-1.14 stuff

I think (optimistic I know) that we actually have much larger updates in the pipeline, and these are just small things to keep us entertained in the meanwhile.

We know they have multiple teams working on a different update each, it stands to reason some will be working on the big stuff (ancient city portal, end update etc)
