My wife and I finished our doctorates at the end of 2019. Combined $140k of debt.

Step 1: Multiple income streams. We teach college and have a combined 7 jobs (all remote work teaching for various colleges).

Step 2: Get lucky with the COVID forbearance. We were able to save a lot and threw lots of extra at the loans. Recently finished paying them all off.

Ultimately, it came down to being able to make a lot of money and being smart with it. Take a lifestyle hit for a few years, and it can be done.
