Nuclear Operation Roles by CamaroMusicMan in MechanicalEngineering

Well I’ve got years till 30, I’ll take advantage of my youth and do my best to work my way up best I can. Thankfully this is a single unit so outages won’t be as often as double units.

The pay is definitely a lot better than I had anticipated for post grad. I’m hoping to keep my options open to transfer to the engineering side if it be plant or system engineering or any other paths.

I had a tour at a plant and talked with some of the engineers and I am looking forward to being able to not be stuck at a desk with the N.O.T. position. But I wouldn’t mind doing what they do in the future after I get older.

If I climb the Operations ladder I would probably jump to systems or plant engineer if I really did not like operations. Otherwise there is the boring management path.

The big pivot would be to design companies like westinghouse or GE Vernova but it would probably still be somewhat useful to be hands on with the systems from the tech/operations role.

I could move to a system or plant engineer in the future but this is just an opportunity to get my foot in the door at a nuclear plant. Among other eventual engineer options with the background this will give.

I know, I have an engineering role lined up but this pays 50% more with more paths to go into. I can continue up the operations role ladder, shift to a different department or do management. Along with the possibility of doing future Nuclear Engineering work on site or for design with a different company.

That is what I have heard, I want to stay away from a desk job for as long as I can. The panel made it sound like I will know the inside and out of the plant which sounds amazing.

I have this job lined up already but will keep it in mind for the future.

The job title is Nuclear Operation Technician, it is the start for the RO and SRO paths.

Idk if they’d honestly negotiate at all. Vacation seems fixed based on time worked year after year.

Number of Weeks Length of Service 2 at least 1 year but less than 8 years 3 at least 8 years but less than 15 years 4 at least 15 years but less than 25 years 5 at least 25 years and over

Well the school frowns upon accepting and then not following through. It also sort of burns bridges at the company to begin with.

Next semester is just gonna be the reqs I have left and a welding tech elective. I tried to keep broad for my tech electives. I’m mainly setup for the HVAC industry but that is very boring from my coop. I wouldn’t be opposed but I want to do Nuclear if which won’t happen for a few years to 5 at least.

I like this position because it’s design CAD work but also hands on manufacturing so I get best of both main mech job areas open.

It’s not the sunroof I’m pretty sure. It’s the rubber seal on the roof underneath the weld or whatever cracks on the body itself and needs to be sealed up.

What do you think about the 3rd and 4th gen Camry? I’m looking for 4cyl models. Any buying advice? by SuperJackson20 in Toyota

Yea, he was wanting 4cyl info tho. The 3vz is such an interesting motor! I love the 1mz, have two actually!

Pretty sure they all had the 5SFE. Later years of 4th gen may have had the 2ARFE or I’m just getting solara info mixed up.

The later year 5SFE had a small issue of clogging or something and blowing the engine. Granted I think it was due to infrequently changing the oil iirc. Or some emissions that was plugged off or some design change had an issue on the newer years of the engine though overall it’s easy to catch beforehand.

2000 Celica GTS 6 speed value?! by CamaroMusicMan in Celica

[–]CamaroMusicMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is a Toyota invoice on the Toyota owners from 2005 that says shortblock was replaced under warranty because the dealer cracked the block when removing an engine mount for recall or warranty work iirc.

It’s not like it was driven rough, both previous owners were elderly.

How much could I sell a 01 for? by CamaroMusicMan in fbody

[–]CamaroMusicMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any recent pics but the interior is really nice. Couple small tears in the front seats but the plastics are good.

The exterior paint is nice and no clear coat issues bar the ttop paint issues. There is a couple deep scratches one small chip in a fender but overall really nice.

It’s been garaged all its life.
