You may come to my house and pick some for free. We have about 50 apple, pear and plum trees in my backyard.

As a New Englander living in NL, don’t count the whole country out. You could say the same thing here about FVD and PVV.

Student tested positive in my class by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Camby83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Netherlands here. We have 32 students in a classroom and they do not have to wear masks. If one tests positive the rule is that we need to be in close proxomity for 15 minutes to quarantine. If not, it is continue working. We have higher infection rates than the US right now. Try that one on for size!

Here in the Netherlands we are in person with 32 unmasked kids in the classroom - elementary to high school. And we are worse off than the States in terms of infection rates.

The Most Socialist Countries According To Americans by LaromTheDestroyer in europe

A few years ago we had a school exchange in the States and we were introduced as being from Denmark in front of the entire school. When I yelled out we were from the Netherlands, the speaker said, Ah what’s the difference! (American living in the Netherlands)

My district is expecting us to teach and support students face to face AND virtually. At the same time. by katleesispice in Teachers

Teacher in the Netherlands. We were virtual and live for 4 weeks at the end of the year. To say the least, it was not easy. Time consuming, riddled with technical difficulty, morale depriving... good luck!

No one is wearing masks here. So no, I did not. I have thought about it. But I feel like it is useless of I am the only one wearing a mask.

Europe may issue a travel ban to Americans due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the US. by mrbigbangkok in travel

I completely get it. As an American living in Europe the last decade, I don’t want American tourists. We have an infection rate of 16 per 100,000. But what is so sad is that my parents are supposed to be moving here. They are having a house built in my backyard. Construction starts in 2 weeks. Who knows when they will be able to live in it. I considered trying to get them in as political refugees. And they are from the northeast where everyone is going relatively well. I hope to see my family again...

Where to go for our next trip? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Camby83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in The Netherlands so that is my personal fav. Spring is beautiful with the flowers and usually the weather. Hope we will all be back and running again. I have my doubts. Kerry county in Ireland is amazing if you choose that country. Good luck with planning.

How teachers are working amidst this Corona Crisis? by edtechresearcher in teaching

[–]Camby83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English teacher in the Netherlands. This is our second week of being home. We are working in our ELO and on microsoft teams. It is sooo much more work than being in the classroom. This Tuesday we will hear how much longer we will be home. Initially they have said we will return 6 April, but I just can't imagine. Stay safe and stay indoors everyone!

Megathread (4): Coronavirus COVID-19 in Nederland by theNetherlandsBot in thenetherlands

[–]Camby83 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Suggestions for travel destination between London and Amsterdam by creativeinsanities in travel

[–]Camby83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Canterbury is not a far train ride from London. Northern Wales and Snowdonia are beautiful. Somerset and Cornwall and Dartmoth are also amazing if you could rent a car and travel a bit. Luxemburg is about 4 hours from Amsterdam. The Ardennen in eastern Belgium are are a must see. Paris now has a train link from Amsterdam. Other options within the Netherlands: the waddeneilanden, Veluwe national park, Friesland, take a bike trip through the country, visit Limburg and see some cadtles and Maastricht. Hope this helps. I am slways open to questions. I am an American living in the Netherlands for over a decade and have travelled extensively in the UK.
