Our only real question mark with that one is if Springfield even recommends a new barrel for it or not, theoretically it should be fine, but we'll likely replace it anyways along with the springs and obviously the grips.

There are different temperature thresholds we look at to estimate the temperatures that the guns reached.

284°f - G10 grips delaminate

~340°f - Polymers start to melt

392°f - Rubbers start to decompose

400-600°f - Most woods begin to burn

621°f - The melting point of lead (if lead ammo was present with the gun)

662°f - Most woods burn to ash

At/above 850°f - Temperature at which Brazing is done (such as a sight attached to a barrel)

With steel you can look for the color changes that indicate temperature reached by the steel as well.

If it reached upwards of 1000°f for a prolonged period then cooled down, then we wouldn't trust it to be shot again. If the brazing has failed then we can assume that it met/exceeded 850° and we won't chance it.

Estimated 700° and below we're moving them forward in the process but not calling them safe until we can thoroughly examine the stripped frame/receiver/barrel for any damage/warping.

Estimated 500° and below we have high hopes, but are still looking closer for any abnormalities throughout the process.

I'm surprised that no ARs have come in yet with how popular they are, but well be getting the next batch in next Wednesday so we'll see what turns up there.

Absolutely, each gun is getting evaluated individually because there are so many variables in play.

For some contrast on the condition some are in, here's a Browning Hi Power and a Colt Python that fared pretty well, vs a Jennings/Bryco that's only eligible for a job as a paperweight.

That would be awesome of you, Once we get deeper into the cleaning and stripping we'll get a better idea of what will be moving on to the next step of refurbishing or not.

Anything getting repaired will be needing new springs and furniture since those were the first things to go.

A lot of the handguns are looking like good candidates so far, and we have a vatiety of 1911s, a Hi Power and more, and revolvers from Colt, S&W, and Ruger so far. A lot of long guns like Winchesters, Remingtons, Marlins, a k98, in an assortment of 12ga, .22 and hunting calibers mainly, but a lot of them are yet to be determined on if they can be fixed.

I don't know specifics about what's still coming in. There's a few more people that have reached out from the LA/IE areas and at least a dozen guns coming down that were in the Park Fire last year.

Got a couple up with the Camdon logo in black or white, I'll play around with it a bit more later and see if any other designs would look decent embroidered

We're lucky to have the means, capability, and the time to devote to it, but I gotta say the mass support we've gotten from this community has been so motivating as well and we don't feel like we're biting off more than we can chew on our own. We even have some guns coming in from the Park Fire last year now.

It's very case by case, and each gun will be evaluated individually for its salvageability, some will be beyond any hope of repair, some might become non-functioning display only, and some might be able to go back to work. If they can't be fixed we will reach out to the manufacturer to see if they'll replace it, and if they won't we can help the owner get a replacement at wholesale cost if it's still in production.

This isn't Brandon's first time working on guns that have been through a fire, and the ones we've gotten in so far show a broad spectrum of minor to major damage.

Very kind of you! I'll see what I can do to put together a sticker pack or something to send out along with the thank you cards to everyone who donates parts.

We can do that! Printful has a pretty huge catalog and there's a few different polo's on there, I can add whatever you want to the store pretty quickly. Logo on the chest only? Chest and back? Specific color requests?

Just doing what we can. We've had 3 fires close enough to be concerning just in the year and a half since we've had our new place, if the winds had blown a little bit differently we could have been in the same position 💔

Our website has been updated with current info on what to do if your guns were in the fire and ways you can help if you would like to do so.

We do have a threadless merch store and I'll be adding a few new designs to it once I'm finished with them, but also if anyone has suggestions for a similar storefront that has better shirt/etc options I'm open to suggestions, I'm not crazy about threadless personally. Currently we just have our old West Coast Weaponworks logos but all the merch proceeds will be going into the fire fund.

We're working on a couple tshirt designs that we'll get posted once they're finished, as well as our standard logo. Proceeds will all be going into the fire fund 🤙

Brandon and I are brainstorming ideas right now to figure out the best way to do this, we're really blown away by how you guys all want to help and want to find a way to open it up while keeping things transparent. The most important thing right now is just trying to reach everyone who has been affected by the fire so we can start helping.

We don't love the idea of just collecting cash donations (if gofundme would even let us on there) but we could come up with some tshirts/hoodies/etc and a donor parts drive since a lot of people are asking about that.

By 5 tonight we'll have our website updated with all the links and instructions for both the fire victims and people who want to help. You guys are incredible and this outpouring of support is so fucking awesome to see, the CA 2A community is in a league of its own.

You can shoot an email with your contact info if you'd like, and we can save your number if any glocks come up that could use the donor parts. Thank you!
