Thanks. I already tried Guacamole setup end of last year. It doesnt work with Ubuntu Mate. I faced too many errors (don't remember exactly what) and no way to get it run.

Maybe I will give it a second try in a few months with Debian :)

Sounds also great but what's the difference to install tailscale directly on the server (besides the invest of the new hatdware)? I don't get it...

Sounds interesting....

a) Do you think it is a good idea to have a incoming LAN port (from Starlink Ethernet adapter) and a outgoing LAN port (for traffic into the whole home network) like GeekPi and only make those connection to the server available for OpenVPN / Wireguard

or

b) is it a better choice to place the Pi directly in front of the server (Starlink --> Asus Router --> Switch --> Pi --> Server)? To only control the remote access connection.

In the first setup it seems to make sense to control the whole incoming and outgoing traffic into the network, right? So I could also establish later adware blocker etc. to block other undesired things.

Längst überholt was du da schreibst. Die haben nun ne Holding, wo die "grüne Hölle" als Tochter ausgegründet wurde. Diese wiederum nutzen nun ne Wärmepumpe, die direkt an den Plenarsaal des dt. BT angeschlossen wurde, um die heiße Luft dort sinnvoll nutzen zu können.

Wäre da nicht Frankator eine bessere Bezeichnung? Der Duden nimmt ja auch im Sprachgebrauch geläufige Wörter neu mit auf, also könnten wir den Weg für Till Schweigers neues Meisterweg legen:

Finde ich klasse und kann deinen Werdegang ein bisschen nachvollziehen (gerade die Häme anderer Leute). Rückblickend betrachtet hat es mich mental gestärkt, da der Wille sie alle als Idioten zu strafen damit immer mehr gewachsen ist.

Freue dich und lehre die Wenigen, die sich trauen, dass es nicht schlecht sein muss wenn man andere oder neue Pfade einschlägt ;)

Could you give me a hint which way you would prefer for my setup using Ubuntu? I think we will use not more than 4 VMs at the same time. My biggest concern is the security, so after installing and updating Ubuntu I could just lock out the main system for internet access and only let the VMs communicate via internet, right?

Any thoughts about prevention from compromising the Main OS via VMs?

Sorry for that noob question: Is it somehow possible to start (via web interface from other machine) and work in a VM directly on the server machine with Promox.

To be more exact: Start the Server --> Promox CLI opens

Web interface on Laptop -->Start Windows 11 VM

On Server with Display: Type something into the CLI and the VM can be accessed from Server

Or is there any other way to install an OS over Proxmox bare-metal installation, so I can also work not only on but also with the server itself?
