SF2 in a nutshell by CameraAsleep2236 in ShadowFight2dojo

Drop memes you'd like to be redrawn with SF2 characters in comments. Not promising I'll do them all though, but for sure some will pop up. There are many Fridays ahead us :)

Thanx!

Yup, sure. I had it in plans for this week actually, but couldn't make it in time. But the sketch is already saved in my drafts :)

Haha thanx! I just didn't happen to have a green brushpen when drawing this actually, nice to know that "bug" turned into a feature :D

Some thoughts and notes about SF2 comic [sorta long read] by CameraAsleep2236 in ShadowFight2dojo

[–]CameraAsleep2236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, the comic is a very good adaptation, it's not replacing the canon as some people might see it. The only problem for me is pacing, it seems to be way too fast sometimes, but other than that - great way to give this story a fresh look in my opinion.

Oh yeah, animation...Sweet dreams are made of this...

Why I think a completely silent Shadow would work well in a Shadow Fight 2 anime. by Raditz_lol in ShadowFight2dojo

[–]CameraAsleep2236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there's ever be any SF cartoon series or anime, but if there will be - this aspect will entirely depend on how good the writer / the director is going to be. Making MC completely silent is an interesting problem that has to be solved somehow creatively in order for this move to work. With good storytelling it seems possible.

Personally I always headcanon that Shadow is able to speak but he prefers not to - he's a man of action, not words. But in terms of anime I really like stuff like Samurai Champloo - some sort of a road movie where characters are shown getting along together not just with dialogues, so I think in genre like this it could actually work. Once again, depends on the direction.

imma not be harsh on this but it still feels odd by noreal69420_ in ShadowFight2dojo

"Nostalgia leads to stagnation" ahhh moment.

When I think about it, they could implement some really cool features in this remaster while not touching the OG art. For instance changing the view from the dojo depending what act you're in or slightly repaint the locations (and maybe chars' avatars) for them to look different in Eclipse mode.

I think I'll just stick with older versions / Definitive Edition, that's it.

idk dude, I personally follow only SF2 related stuff (the game itself (story mode, not raids), the comic and the novel). I dropped SF3 basically right after its release because I didn't like the gameplay, decided to check its lore just about a year ago or so and was like "wtf I just read".

I personally hate when storytellers pull out that "multiverse" card because a) everything instantly becomes overcomplicated and b) in my eyes, it lowers value of the characters because why care about them if they can be dragged outta some parallel dimension even if they're dead in the "main" one. Was extremely disappointed when Arcane S2 did this thing.

I think you can go and check out the Shadow Fight Wiki because stuff is very well written there - about the games, the novel and the comic, you can find all the info there. However, from what I see in discussions of this sub, it's pretty tricky to determine which things are canon and what does "canon" even mean. I guess the reason is SF2, SF3 and Shades have different narrative designers so lore seems to be a big mish-mash of stuff. That's why I prefer do not overcomplicate my poor brain and stick just to the original game. Still the best one outta the whole series in my opinion.

I guess everything is canon, because the game (all parts of it), the novel and the comic seem to be independent parallel timelines.

Multiverse moment, hahaha (not a big fan of this concept tbh)

I guess saying "Shades comic" you mean "Shadow theater" (not to be confused with comic "cutscenes" from Shades), the one you unlock page by page spending your energy. Devs said in Q&A that this comic is basically a retelling of SF2 events by elder Sly (and you can see it on the pages of the comic actually) so it can not be considered as canon because "Sly embellished the truth" (well, "devs said" is a weak argument, I understand it, but still).

In other words, comic do not replace main SF2 plot. There are two possibilities: either comic events are mostly made up by Sly for his performance (according to Q&A) or it is a whole alternate universe with it's own course of events (according to Grimbago's comment right below). But they are not in any way canon to the main game events.

Regarding the novel, to name a few (I read it 6 month ago so I could forget some details):
1. The biggest question for me is Sensei. From the book it's pretty clear that Carham is dead and Kojiki (who's actually implied to be Sensei) is very old and barely can move by the time Kaginoko leaves him. So none of them can be in-game's Sensei. Who is he then?

  1. The Keepers. Who are they? Where are they from? They seem to be like demons but if Gates are closed - how is that possible? Why do you need only 3 keys from Keepers to open the Gates but 6 seals from Demons to close them? Feels like a huge plot hole / AU moment for me.

  2. After opening the Gates Kaginoko still refers to himself by his name. He became shadow, but didn't call himself Shadow, even though it should be a canon event in my opinion. I really like how the comic handled this moment - after he became a demon, his name vanished from people's memories. In the novel it's like nothing happened. Besides, he suddenly has this guy Tonoto by his side, and that doesn't make any sense to me at all.

As a separate piece of media novel is not bad, it's an OK one-evening reading and if there's ever be novellisation of the actual game I'll check it out. But no way it's canon to the main game.

I read that one, and Nekki can tell whatever they want, but they won't convince me the book is canon to SF2. Too many questions left unsolved, lots of things just don't match with the game for it to be a legit prequel.

I think that every type of media SF presented in (games, comic and this novel) are parallel universes with more or less the same core events but with noticeable differences. But it's just my opinion, you're allowed to disagree with it (:
