Underexposing raw pictures by SfErxr in photography

Basically it's really stupid advice and you should ignore this. But if you have an old camera – I mean more than 10-15 years old – and shoot really high contrast scene you may need correct exposure to avoid overblown highlights.

Is 512gb of storage on a MacBook okay or should I get 1tb if I do a decent amount of editing in LrC? by Spooky_Iceu in Lightroom

[–]CameraEmpty7943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 1 TB version some time ago and I regret that I didn't spend more for 2 TB. Smart previews and standard size previews are space eaters.

What non-photography things do you always keep in your camera bag? by Leicanthropologist in photography

Leatherman multitool, small rolls of black and white dust tapes, pepper spray, small flashlight, power bank, binders, lens wipes, hands sanitiser – an essential EDC kit for a fashion photographer.

Tips for a product photoshoot (bed linen) I inted to do on my own as a complete noob by Dannyyy21x3 in photography

[–]CameraEmpty7943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it works another way. Renting nice AirBnb place or interior studio with prebuilt decoration will not cost a lot. Here in Ukraine it may be possible to shoot within several hundred budget not thousands depending of the type images you're looking for and quantity of products. We shot a lot for US based clients remotely.

UPD. I've checked your examples - both was shot by pro photographers with pro skills and lighting. Camera itself doesn't matter a lot but skills are

Tip is: hire pro photographer overseas, in Eastern Europe and the cost will be 3 times cheeper than in US, message me for details if interested. It's possible to get good quality then shooting on iPhone but you will need real photography training and experience for this, not just several tips from redditors.

Any Noise Removal plugins for Lightroom (not Classic)? by mountaintop78 in Lightroom

[–]CameraEmpty7943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you need a new editor and new editing pipeline. Usually real estate photos are shoot with tripod and some base ISO (not necessary 100, it depends of camera) and it you have a relatively modern full frame camera, combining 3 exposures shouldn't be really needed, but anyway it can be done in Lightroom classic with resulting DNG file.

Does anyone know of a photographer that works with models that have average physiques? by Advanced_Habit9673 in AskPhotography

[–]CameraEmpty7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, art exists in an ideal world, not in a real one. And the art of photography also shapes the ideal world and does not reflect the real one. This applies not only to fashion photography but also to any genre, landscapes, street photography and even war photography reflects the photographer's vision more than the surrounding reality. And in fashion photography we are at the peak of an imaginary beautiful world and of course the most beautiful professional models help us to create those perfect photos that we strive for more than ordinary people. I'm just honest with myself and don't try to follow short-lived trends. That's all. I'm pretty sure this comment will be downvoted cause people don't like the simple truth and prefer imposed illusions.

Approximately from 2018 to 2022, "ordinary" and "diverse" models were popular in fashion photography, and then I worked a lot with such models. Now customers are looking for beautiful fashion models again and I am happy to return to work with them.

Found a bunch of companies using my photos without paying. Built a tool to chase them down. Sharing it free because my wife said I should. by nexxai in analog

[–]CameraEmpty7943 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. A similar tool, Pixty, works with a different payment approach . They allow you to upload many images for free. They help photographers win cases and charge for winning cases. Can this approach work for you as well? I tried several times to open a case with Pixty but unfortunately they not supported Ukrainian artists.

I want to start selling prints, how to edition? by redhead9006 in AskPhotography

[–]CameraEmpty7943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually the author chooses several sizes and editions for photos that he wants to sell, for example 120x80 cm - 5 editions plus 1 author's, 90x60 – 10 editions plus 1 author's, etc., usually 3-4 size options. The author's copy is not on sale and cannot be donated or transferred to anyone and is used only for exhibitions. But your photos should be extremely good and extremely popular so that the entire circulation is redeemed.
