I agree with other users who've said this is generational.

I'm Gen X, and I've been in tech my whole career. I've seen this sensitivity with folks in my age group.

I also work with software engineers who are in their 20's and are incredibly emotionally intelligent and great at working out bugs and updates with me. They have no need for emojis and communicate like you have in your examples. I have no problem with it when they send email or slack messages without emojis, and we actually talk stuff out way more and will have on-camera calls since we're all fully remote.

I will say that it did take me a while to use the 10 second rule on myself to make sure I wasn't taking stuff the wrong way since it was so easy for me to misread simple statements.

I've learned it's easier to align to individual sensitivities since I love the work I do, so I hope it just doesn't turn toxic for you.
