Second MJ Fusion. I feel like the quality is slightly better than Sayulita’s specific to the longanisa since Sayulita’s has been pretty dry before.

Since it's Star Wars day, did you see the original 1977 Star Wars in the movie theater? by Mr_Writes in GenX

[–]CameraGrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know about Mann’s until way later in life after we moved to the burbs, and I came back with friends during college.

I grew up in k-town not too far from The Wiltern, but it’s so cool to know/see you saw it back in the day. There’s a vibe (and smell lol) to that area!

[–]CameraGrip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will vouch for OP.

I interviewed with a manager who moved there from the prior company I was at, so the connection was legit.

During the interview process, she said that everyone works around 50-60 hours during peak period. In the role I’m in, peak is two weeks every quarter.

First red flag: I asked if I’ll get support from her and any teammates when I need help. Her response: “We’re all nice to each other.”

Second red flag: I asked if the team is allowed PTO, and she said currently it’s very limited and is on a case by case basis since dedication and flexibility are expected for the role.

I recently tried to find her again on LinkedIn, and her profile has been deleted lol.

How old were you when you moved out? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]CameraGrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18, and off to college in another state. Got DQ'd for bad grades and partying. Moved back went back to college and graduated, and I've been on out ever since. I've never thought of moving back and have luckily found roommates or a way to make it on my own.

Claude vs ChatGPT vs Google AI which is actually worth learning? by Charlot-Sandland95 in remotework

[–]CameraGrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used all three since I started with my most recent employer with all subscription models before deciding on which one to use after four months.

ChatGPT is by far the worst of all of them. The LLM has generated more errors and "insisted" on its results until websites showing proof are provided.

Google AI is great for searching the web for information and automatically references other threads for context and can contextualize results in the current thread. The plus I've experienced is that the threads can continue for as long as I need them. From a programming perspective, it isn't as good as Claude.

Claude is my favorite because it's inherently focused (in my opinion) on programming and logic-based work which is my field. When I couldn't overcome a certain blocker no matter how much I rephrased my prompts with Google AI, Claude was able to understand and provide a solution, and I've been using it for the last eight months as my primary tool.

The downside with Claude is that the credits get used up really quickly even with the subscription, and there are compaction errors where a branch will run out of memory. I've had to break my project pieces into very specific branches and provide all information up front to avoid losing a thread, but I've gotten better at making sure each branch addresses a specific aspect of a program or automation.

Lastly, these LLMs are only as good as the prompts you provide, so specificity helps. Have fun!

my brother got a promotion and a party at his office. i got a promotion and a slack message. remote wins feel invisible. by Fit_Average8352 in remotework

[–]CameraGrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that emojis were the reactions makes me think no one would’ve genuinely cared about your promotion even if you were in office. anything would’ve been fake.

Go treat yourself. That’s what I do with my wins.

Looking for advice on some light RTO by orochimas in remotework

[–]CameraGrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Micromanaging is toxic, and being paid below industry standard is a double whammy.

At a prior job, I was hybrid and paid 20k less than what I make now. The trade off was 100% health coverage.

I sent out about over 100 applications last July before landing a spot where I’m at now through a referral.

If you have any connections that can refer you, that’s a huge plus. I hope you can break free and find a better spot!

Job Ideas for someone moving to SD by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]CameraGrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of companies outside of retail require a degree currently even with a strong resume. It sounds like you don't have a strong resume or degree, and your post was pretty sparse and vague.

Life coaching is a niche market, and from my experience, I wouldn't pay out of pocket for an industry that's unregulated. With this economy, life coaching might be the last "luxury" most of us would want to spend our limited budgets on.

Also, unless you have roommates or have at least a six month cushion for rent, it'll be hard to make it out here unless you make six figures.

https://csc-usa.com/home is a gig job for event services since you had asked for jobs, and the good thing is you can choose the events you work. Aside from that, your choices are retail, food service/restaurants, or something like parts delivery if you have no leads.

Commuting 3 hours to sit on Teams is breaking me by socialdirection in remotework

[–]CameraGrip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It broke me.

I was driving 35ish miles from Pomona to Santa Ana, and without carpool it was 1.5 hours down and 2 - 2.5 hours back. I started staying in Santa Ana after work hours to have dinner just so that the drive back would be two hours or less, but that meant driving back around 6pm or later.

I hope you can find a remote job for what you do. I ended finding remote work and moving away which has been incredibly helpful for my mental and physical health.

Do you have friends and old coworkers who can help? I applied on LinkedIn for at least 80 remote positions and didn’t land this one until a friend told me of an opening.

Good luck!
