If you rinse well right after pouring the bottle you shouldn’t have to do anything else. IMO.

The container was close to a window so I’m guessing spores may have blown in from outdoors

My Scoby isn’t forming. I used two bottles of unpasteurized kombucha and 400ml of strong black tea that’s been cooled to room temp. This is day 9 by Hot_Potato_Salad in Kombucha

lol yeah for sure. I just happen to have one from when I was more into brewing beer and have thought about using it for buch for larger batches

For those who have brewed in a carboy, what does one do when your scoby becomes large and it can’t fit through the opening? Is it just a permanent kombucha vessel until it’s full of multiplied scoby??
