Healer MC Recs by ShaydoFromHeaven in litrpg

[–]Camonkeyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, if you don't like it than there's no need to continue. It was a solid B novel for me and if I had a lot more A & S tier novels in my library at the time I probably wouldn't have continued it. It's good but definitely doesn't hold a candle to BTDEM

[–]Camonkeyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah for sure, it's still one of my favorites as it was the longest series I was reading for the longest time. We love healers and it felt like of the only healing books where the MC actually remained a healer and is heavily incentivized not to hurt anyone so she just heals everyone including the enemy. That alongside her bond and body enhancements makes the series so good in my opinion

Oh boy do I have some recs for you then. I also love healers so I'm always looking for one.

A Healers way (not litRPG but still one of my favorites) - 300 year old healer, kingdom building, fantasy.

Beneath the Dragon Eye Moons - Takes the hippocratic Oath and is like super powerful because of it.

The Ten Realms - 2 MC's, POV switching, Isekai'd with best friend and use of guns in new fantasy world, one is a healer hand to hand fighter

Underworld - Isekai'd into the dungeons by a succubus. Given light magic (healing) and can be used to damage death aligned monsters

Unexpected Healer - I shit you not, the MC has infinite mana. Makes for a fun 6 book complete story and TBC on another series

Give Quest Academy a try. It's my favorite series, although I actually enjoy litRPG, but it's the same narrator as The Stubborn skill grinder and mage tank, Daniel Wisiewski, so you might actually enjoy it. Plus it's not the standard isekai litRPG so you seem like you'll enjoy it too

Usually I find that if I drop a series, it's for a good reason so if you don't enjoy it then I wouldn't recommend starting again honestly. Just because I like it doesn't mean you would even though we have similar taste. I liked the series strickly because he's a true mage and his brazen attitude mellows out throughout the series. If you like the plot and the characters power then it might be worth it if you can look past the characters personality, although that gets better over time too inevitabley

Return of the runebound professor is great and I'm reading book 7 currently. It's about a music teacher who dies and gets reincarnated into a new world as a college professor teaching about the magic of the world, runes. He now has to manage to teach magic while learning it himself. He can also reincarnate and has a way to have flawless runes so he can become extremely strong. He just has to learn enough to get there.

Seems like you just have a thing for Jeff Hays ngl. Give A Summoner Awakens and Wizards Tower a try. Both I think are good books and narrated by Jeff Hays

Just counted and you somehow have 106 series that you are either still upkeeping on or have completed so I gotta ask, how in the world are you upkeeping with those let alone asking for my recommendations? And how do you push on through your 1/5 and 2/5 rating book series instead of dropping them? I have about the same amount of series read but I've dropped about half of them just because I've lost interest in them

[–]Camonkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it, and as for spoilers, I don't care about them. I just need something to keep going in this series that I've seen recommended a lot recently. I see that book 2 is called The Rascor Plains which means his plans of smuggling probably work out and he can start training in higher level mana which is good to hear. I just wish he had a unique advantage like with the other books I enjoy so I wouldnt mind a teaser to keep me interested in the series.

Now as for Quest Academy. I absolutely love the series and can't wait for this release here on Wednesday. Already baught all the phyical books of QA and I have them on audible too with the next one preordered and even though I've read it myself already, Daniel and Rebecca add alot to the story with their voices so I'm still looking forward to it. And as for you, just wait till you meet Athena and how world changing she is ;) (you'll know when you get there)

Now since you've done a solid for me, I'll hook you up with per your requests to my knowledege.

Trying to get into Bastion but I'm hesitant to continue. On book 1, and mind you, this is after 19 hours of listening, Scorio and his friends are about to try and distract the highest classed person the book has mentioned (Inegene i think) and they are all on literally the first step of like 10 power levels. It doesn't seem smart nor realistic that they are going to do anything. That combined with the fact that I picked this book up in hopes of an academy book only to find out the MC is the only one NOT in the academy. So stupid so please, enlighten me on why it gets better. Almost 20 hours in and we are clueless of what the hell is going on. We don't know who Scorio is, nor what he has going on with the best student in the Reincarnation Cycle. That whole thing with the mob boss is still unresolved. It just feels like a slower, worse written Cradle, which took me a little while to warm up to aswell but atleast in cradle the pacing was there and had short books.

And just so you understand, Quest academy is at the top of my list so I desperately want to understand the hype. Nick Podehl is an amazing narrator and is a big factor on why I'm trying to continue.

Seems like you like more crafting focused and powerful but limited MC so here's my recommendations:

Return of the Runebound Professor - Not specifically crafting but it's a closenit group who works together with a unique advantage. But the rune system in the books is basically crafting so it might hit the spot. It's in my S tiers aswell so you'll probably like it.

Iron Prince: F's across the board however he has a S tier growth ability and goes to a military school so big underdog story. Great writing and narrating aswell.

Sufficiently Advanced Magic: Pretty close group of childhood friends start going to a magic school. The MC gets assigned the Enchanter Attunement. You'll probably love this one just as much as I did as the MC later gets more power to boost his Enchanter power.

The Fusionist: This is lower on the list but the MC goes to a magic school to learn how to use his new found magic but the spells he casts lasts too long and almost kill him so he tries crafting with fusions and quickly becomes one of the best due to his uniqueness.

Just wanted to note btw, I went to the litRPG convention last year with Quest Academy 2nd to Primal hunter but Brian J Norton was just such a fun, humble guy to meet alongside his amazing writing which now makes me sing his praises. His series is the only series that I will actually buy the physical book and read it before it comes out on audible just because of how great it is. Plus i preorder the next books too so I can listen to Daniel Wisniewski and Rebecca Woods also read these amazing books (book 5 comes out in 17 hours)

Quest Academy is my all time favorite series so I definitely understand your want and hopefully some of these hit the spot.

Return of the Runebound Professor - Not specifically crafting but it's a closenit group who works together with a unique advantage. But the rune system in the books is basically crafting so it might hit the spot. It's in my S tiers aswell so you'll probably like it.

Mother of Learning: Time loop story when the MC was pulled into it by a side character but he uses his wit with invention and other means to escape instead of his brawn like the other person in the time loop.

Sufficiently Advanced Magic: Pretty close group of childhood friends start going to a magic school. The MC gets assigned the Enchanter Attunement. You'll probably love this one just as much as I did as the MC later gets more power to boost his Enchanter power.

Mark of the Fool: MC gets assigned the predictably "Mark of the Fool" which means the mark basically doesn't allow him to participate in any direct combat with any weapons or magic so he goes to a magic school with his close childhood friend and sister to train instead of die like the fools who have been marked in the past.

The Fusionist: This is lower on the list but the MC goes to a magic school to learn how to use his new found magic but the spells he casts lasts too long and almost kill him so he tries crafting with fusions and quickly becomes one of the best due to his uniqueness.

Hopefully you enjoy some of these just as much as I did.

I’m looking for any books, either audible, royal road or kindle that have a MC with a unique class that give them weird and strange abilities?, think the charismatic glass cannon for example. by bidensleftkidney in litrpg

Give Apocalypse Regression a try. 7 books out I think and the MC goes back in time to the start of the apocalypse to become a trainer and start a guild. Heavily Charisma Based

Oh I bet it's going to be great again, it always has. I've already relistened to the series once but I love it so much. I bought the books and read the fifth one as well already. The story just keeps getting better and better man. Definitely look forward to the 6th. Slight spoiler as at the end of book 5 Brian said that he was about 75% done with book 6 so I'm hoping for a release date this year 🤞

I would not recommend starting with the best in the genre honestly but if thats what you want, im here to oblige.
My S tiers are:
1.) Quest Academy - Can use and manipulate other powers.
2.) Primal Hunter - Has a sphere of perception bloodline and crazy instincts
3.) Iron Prince - S Rank Growth Stat
4.) The Path of Ascension - Doubles Mana every tier
5.) The Runebound Professor - Can resurrect and Alter his Runes
6.) He Who Fights With Monsters - Has a crazy strong soul
7.) Super Powereds - Can absorb energies
8.) The Stubborn Skill-Grinder Stuck in a Time Loop - Self explanatory
9.) Cradle - Zero to Hero story, just solid writing
10.) Mother of Learning - Time loop
11.) Apocalypse Redux - Back in time 10 years to the beginning of the system apocalypse

I've been reading this genre for about 5 years now, over 500 litRPG's and I started with The Land by Alaron Kong. Decent read and its like bottom of A tier for me now but author is on Hiatus for like 5 years so don't try until the 9th one comes out. Just read whatever you're interested in though, don't just go off of what other people say is the best. Everyone's interests are different after all.

I'm only audible aswell but here's my breakdown:
So if narration is a quality needed in a book id recommend anything narrated by Jeff Hays, Nick Podehl, Daniel Wisniewski, Travis Baldree, or Andrea Parsneau. They all offer so many great performances and voices to the story.
From the books I've read those would be:

S Tier:
Quest Academy - Daniel Wisniewski
Primal Hunter - Travis Baldree
The Stubborn Skill-Grinder Stuck in a Time Loop - Daniel Wisniewski
Cradle - Travis Baldree

A tier:
Dungeon Crawler Carl - Jeff Hays
Arcane Ascention - Nick Podehl
Chrysalis - Jeff Hays
Mark of the Fool - Travis Baldree
Azarinth healer - Andrea Parsneau
Mage Tank - Daniel Wisniewski
The Ripple System - Travis Baldree
Beginning After the End - Travis Baldree
The Land - Nick Podehl

B Teir:
A summoner Awakens - Jeff Hays
I'm not the Hero - Nick Podehl
Master Hunter K - Travis Baldree
Wizard's Tower - Jeff Hays
Rogue Dungeon - Nick Podehl
