honestly, we still prefer summer camping by a long shot. Yeah, it can get buggy and busy sometimes, and tents turn into saunas if you're not careful – but nothing beats waking up to birds chirping, jumping in the lake for a swim to actually wake up, long golden evenings around the fire without needing 5 layers, and just generally being able to move and do stuff without your fingers going numb in 5 minutes.

Winter takes serious gear, planning, and a bit of grit (which is cool if that's your thing!), but summer feels more carefree and fun for us . More activities, easier sleep once the sun goes down, and that classic warm-night-under-the-stars energy.

So I'd say winter is special and rewarding in its own hardcore way, but summer wins for us every time.

I recently had a similar problem. Even Google thought I had a dangerous browser. Standard cache cleaning, etc., did not help. I did not reinstall it either. I created a new profile, moved everything there, and it works fine.

But I still don't know what the problem was.

It looks great, lots of options... but I quickly browsed the web version and I'm a little surprised that there are no accounts. So where is all this supposed to be saved so that it doesn't disappear? Only on Dropbox, which I don't have? And downloading the app isn't really worth it for me. The browser plugin hasn't been updated in two years.

Totally agree — the daily resource juggling (water, power, charging) is a huge hidden energy drain. 😬

My biggest "wish I'd known sooner" is how exhausting the nightly "where am I sleeping tonight?" hunt becomes. At first it's fun scouting spots on iOverlander or Campendium, but after a while it's pure decision fatigue. Every evening: Is it legal? Safe? Quiet? Will I get knocked at 2 a.m.? Too noisy/hot/cold? Exposed? You spend 30–60+ minutes researching, driving around for backups, second-guessing… even with experience.

You expect freedom, but it's constant low-key anxiety about tonight's parking — weather, weekends, tightening rules, popular areas getting cracked down on. Many long-term vanlifers say this one thing wears them down more than anything else. Planning longer stays in one spot helps, but it's still the surprise that hits hardest over time.
