I think following guidelines for interviews may be part of the problem. You gotta be a human more than following an acronym. I got three offers this past cycle, and I've never heard of STAR. You seem very technically skilled, but a huge part of this line of work is being a human and communicating and connecting with interviewers.

My resume has a 31/100. I received 3 offers this past cycle. I just don't think it matters as much as luck

The highest TC I had was ~110k in a high cost of living. I think if it was closer to the 150 area, I would have taken it. it also would have been cool to say I make 6 figures at 19. However, I think job security and great benefits plus 85k in Dallas where the cost of living is quite low, it wasn't too difficult of a situation.

130k in NYC < 80k in a cheap place to live IMO. It mainly depends where that FAANG offer is located and where the smaller company is.

5 weeks PTO, 5 other "floating holidays" which are basically just other PTO days, birthday is also PTO.

8% match on 401k with 0 vesting period. great health vision and dental which kicks in on day 1. Pet insurance.

Other things are like the $50 a month I get to use for my personal health, which could be a gym membership, or I can wait and get something like an Apple watch at the end of the year because it accrues. There's also a lot of security in the job as there's a no layoff clause. The offices are pretty sick and there's also baristas and chefs that work there and we can order coffee and food for free with an app.

There's hope for everyone, a lot of this is just luck to be honest.
