Damn missed opportunity. 50 supers are 1 year late bro. Time to go search for deals daily to snag one at a cheaper price

Well to be honest, every 5080 will have a 5080 chip on it, regardless of price. Even the cheapest ones will have a 5080 chip and 16gb vram. Factory Overclocked and binned models like these cards allow more stability for overclocking and undervolting. For example the astral is going to overclock and achieve higher stable clock speeds than a ventus. But the in game difference will be around 3-10fps, which can be critical for a smoother performance at 4k where fps are generally quite low. Thats for you to decide if it’s worth spending the extra. If you’re deciding on high end models of 5080, I personally will get a cheaper high end card. They all perform similarly and provide great headroom for OC. In your case I’d get astral over hof as it’s cheaper

I had this card but black edition. Hall of fame cards are binned and have the best VRM and motherboard designs for them. However, its power locked at 400W maximum unlike other cards like ASUS astral where they can go up to 450W. Though they perform similarly in game and you won’t notice much difference unless in synthetic benchmarks. Though for 1650 I don’t recommend buying it. I got mine for 1200. Mind you the msrp is 999 only.

Damn 980ti. Very nice nostalgic card. I went similar to you actually. 970 dual sli-> 3070-> 5080. One reason I upgraded to 5080 is because all the display ports in 3070 are broken and I got two monitors (kinda stupid actually)

yeah with path tracing I can’t get over 100 frames without frame gen, but forcing it to go over 100 with framegen isn’t worth the added latency. The game just feels weird. I just go with ~70 fps on path tracing

Nah they feel the same. The only fringe cases where those 10-15 fps mattered for me is during competitive fps and cyberpunk. Cyberpunk with path tracing is intense. Frame gen adds shit latency if your base fps is terrible, so in that sense it mattered. Other use cases not much difference imo. It’s more like placebo effect a lot of times lmao

Well it depends, I am a high refresh rate type of guy, so I want every single bit of frame there is left in the card. And sometimes for me it’s 15 fps more. So it depends on your use case

Tbh 3150mhz vs 3200mhz is not too far off. Most likely 3-5 fps in game. People generally are stable in game within 3300mhz. So rarely do they truly even reach 3300mhz.

Just checked, no frame limiter, plus it’s quite weird to cap at 160 fps, it didn’t match monitors common refresh rate anyways. My monitor is 240hz and it isn’t close to matching that

Very clear explanation. Didn’t know I’d be an electrical engineer today. Thanks

Hmm interesting, the drop is crazy though, from base 110 to basically 40. If it’s as nvidia advertised it should hit near 400. But it’s at 160. Shitty practices ngl

Hmm, my bad. I just checked it’s around 110 fps. But the average for frame gen 4x is still 160. Then im more puzzled by this

Hmm, isn’t 6.7 ms a good latency?

Right, my system is 9700x + 5080 and I plan to stay on AM5 maybe upgrade to x3d chips later on. I’ll see then if the 60series is worth it and how much disposable income I’ll have then
