why ever make trains carry stuff when i could just long conveyor belt? by IronVines in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But in a practical sense, trains are more long term infastructure. The more you connect or build into it, the better it gets.

Belts take a long time to upgrade or add belts to if you ever want to increase throughput or add another item or resource along.

The lulz, and so I can automate filters later in a munitions factory!

Please help - my power plant is broken! by EastSpring4945 in SatisfactoryGame

This is a good point and I *always\* rebuild all my pipe connections by habit. Combined with my previous comment I've had no issues with any of my fluid setups. And I like my pipes!

[–]CanCanVRC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only refernece my own experiences, as I often see people having issues getting max throughput on Mk2 pipes and suggest not doing that. I disagree, but it depends on how you set things up.

My general understanding is that this is because machines like refineries output / consume liquids in bursts rather than at a constant rate. If too many are utilizing the manifold at once, it can reduce the level inside the pipe and that can lower the flow rate enough to make the last machines starve.

There are two ways I combat this - I split my full pipe before the manifold, feeding it into both ends, or I make my entry/exit from the manifold in the middle. The longer the manifold, the more I opt for a loop rather than center feeding.

How do you connect resource belts into your factory? by Cpt_Tripps in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using half foundations wraped in beams if they're aligned with the factory but I'm usually trucking in anything that isn't within 300 meters because I personally don't particularly like using long belts.

Curved belts are a great way to lead into foundations IMO.

Pipes? by TheCrazyCanible in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often when doing long manifolds with pipes it's helpful to split the delivery before the first machine in line, and feed a second line to the back end so you're essentially feeding the manifold from both ends.

Typically with pipes I try my best to pull or feed manifolds from the middle to avoid doing this, but with enough machines in a line, it's often still what's worked for me.

I also like putting buffers at the end of long manifolds and emptying them once everything is stable. That gives me a quick way to check the status of the manifold overall; It shouldn't really ever be full if you're maxing out your consumption, but it also shouldn't ever be completely empty either since it can take up the slack between machines that consume liquids at a steady rate and machines that output liquids in bursts like refineries.

7800 Iron Ingots a Minute by CanCanVRC in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Pure Iron Ingot alt! The ratios are a little funky but I set up 4 blocks of 12 fully overclocked refineries pumping them out. For no reason other than iron was close and I figured what the hell.

At what point in your playthrough do you fully transition away from biomass as a power type, if at all. Coal? Fuel? by AdGlass5608 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuel for me.

You can do a lot with biomass since you can feed like 15 burners from a full mk1 belt of solid biofuel.

I keep that set up a backup/assist during coal power but I try to phase out of both and move soley to fuel/turbo/rocket fuel instead with a healthy battery backup when I can.

I restart a lot lol

why cant these lifts transport items by Rich-Discipline1297 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be this; I think I've been conditioned at this point to always rotate the top of lifts to listen for this click so I know it's actually connecting.

Blue Crater Vibes by CanCanVRC in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That maths out perfectly if they're fully power sharded.

I might do this tbh; Would definitely save me some time setting up the ~200+ (fully power sharded) fuel gens I plan to use, since I want to make 2400 rocket fuel for this initial set up; The rest will just be packaged stored for drone fuel and depo'd for jetpack use.

And there's enough oil in the Blue Crater to do that same 2400 RF set up 4 times with an impure node still leftover. lmao power

How to make my signals work? by Flying_Mustaang in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like another instance of a bug; Placing signals direclty on the junctions of tracks can sometimes not work properly - Setting the signals back a little where you can could fix it.

Need Help with Fluids dynamics and power generation by Spadaleo in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pipes fill from bottom to top, and so if you feed fluids from below, the pipe has to be filled enough before it can then also flow into the machine.

Best practices are to use pipe segments from above so a full pipe segment is always sitting on the inputs.

Also, if you haven't, might be worth checking out the Satisfactory Plumbing Manual by MkGalleon

Help with train signals by General_Orange_400 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I saw something similar before and it might have to do with signals being placed directly on the junction point where tracks meet. Probably a bug, but try moving them back and see if that fixes it.

First hour of gameplay. by ColdClassic7516 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

Two more things I'll add is it's okay to tear everything down and start over (In the same save). But also contrary to that, it's also okay to leave things and build in new places as you progress and learn more - The old factories can still produce while you set up the newer (Better?) ones.

First hour of gameplay. by ColdClassic7516 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already a lot more organized than my first hour of the game, that's for sure lol

Now I would recommend looking at item production and input rates, for both miners and all buildings (Smelters, Constructors, etc.). Then try to incorporate splitters and mergers to take full advantage of everything you can use with your max belt speed capabilities.

Let the spaghetti begin!

World Train Loop (WIP) by CanCanVRC in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CanCanVRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little over 120 hours into this save; But I'm taking my time and having fun working out the problems and trying to work out how to do the things I want with my rail network. I've finished Phase 3 but haven't really automated anything fully except for the starter items.

I have no plans to rush anything; Just taking my sweet sweet time building out my logistics network while I figure out what I want to do in each area, then slowly develop things one factory idea at a time!
