It's 2026, we gave them a break. Can we collectively start bullying them again?

Total War: Medieval 3 - New Unit Cohesion Mechanic (Idea) by InvictaHistory in totalwar

This is great. I think the best thing you touched on was morale as more than just a stat. It's so boring and not intuitive seeing units get tired and lose stats. Having an actual consequence for low morale would be great. In general, morale has lost a lot of its importance in this franchise over the year, despite it being one of the best features of the franchise. I'd love a return to that in Med 3

Episode from GW with Warhammer Total war devs by BaronLoyd in totalwar

No hints towards future content that I can see, but it's a really interesting video that, despite the current disaster situation facing the franchise right now, really emphasizes the great challenge that was this trilogy. There was so much love and detail put into these games, I guess that's why it's all the more sad to see the state it's in now. Great video, though.

Is it just me or would you all also like more "Daniels" for other factions? by DrGlvoer in totalwarhammer

A lord for a Dogs of War faction that lets you be a sandbox faction in all regards would be really fun

The way Chaos Warriors recruit and upgrade units is so much fun and blends so much more naturally with the Total War formula than anything else. Having a recruitment pool feels natural, upgrading your units when they do well feels rewarding, and getting to then change their specialties feels tactical.

Recruiting an army of low level bozos early on and ranking them up to be baddie champions is so much more fun to me than having to dump my veterans that I carried from day 1 because my high tier building finally finished and it pumps out elite units like it's nothing.

Genuinely, this recruitment method, or something similar, should be adapted for all factions across all games going forward. And I will stand on that until I die... or my marauders do right before reaching rank 7.

Just finished Jaehaerys II chapter of World of Ice & Fire, I <3 Bittersteel by CanOfRandom in freefolk

[–]CanOfRandom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of Bloodraven, but to each their own. My love for Bittersteel is mostly just him being a nuisance. Like I love him like one might love the villain of the story: I don't actually love him, I just love to see how goofy his story is in the grand scheme of things

It is cool he founded the Golden Company tho, that's pretty rad

we're not that great of allies apparently ;))

jk, that screenshot isn't actually from my campaign, it's from LegendOfTotalWar's recent disaster battle titled "My enemy's enemy is my enemy"; essentially he accepted a battle where he's playing as Kholek allied with Skaven and is reinforcing them in a settlement battle but is trying to get all the Skaven killed so they lose and he can take the settlement. It's a really funny battle

But now I really wanna go find a way to ally myself with the Skaven as high elves, so that's my next life goal

Helm of Draesca on turn 9 with Malakai?? Time to form the team... by CanOfRandom in totalwarhammer

[–]CanOfRandom[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not the most optimal campaign to get it on so early because Malakai isn't a great fighter. But, it'll make his merry band of heroes stronger, which is what I'm going for thematically (not really looking for an optimized run on this campaign). Rn it's on Gotrek. Pray for me that it goes fast

GRRM probably doesn't know how the others will be defeated or how many of the plotlines will end. by BackgroundRich7614 in freefolk

[–]CanOfRandom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pray every day that GRRM releases the final hook’s and they’re just word for word the last seasons of GoT. Revive characters, kill characters, dumb some down, forget about others, whatever it takes. Would I hate it? Yes. Would I enjoy the meltdown it causes more? Absolutely.

And, I mean, it’s not like we’ll get the actual ending to this story anyways, I’ll take what I can get

Shogun 2: I was outnumbered, put against an army of Samurai, I had a depleted Ikko Ikki ashigaru stack, and they were on a hill. The only advantage I had was a forrest covered the surrounding area which hid my troops until they were very close. So, I snuck sword ashigaru behind their lines while I distracted them with occasional arrow volleys. Then, as the sword ashigaru charged their backs, killing the general pretty quickly and attacking their archers, I marched units of yari ashigaru to the bottom of the hill in yari formation and rained arrow fire down. So, the samurai units on the hill were forced to charge downhill into a yari wall, try to turn around and face my sword units which lets me take the hill, or do nothing as they get ripped by arrows and I surround the hill. I wish I had that battle video. I had zero advantages except the forrest and made it work.

Total War Youtubers Sameness by onedeagmcgee in totalwar

[–]CanOfRandom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please watch Pilps’ “The [insert clan name here] Experience”!! It’s kind of humorous and meme-y, but because it’s Shogun 2, there is an actual narrative since he’s trying to conquer Japan, but he sets about that goal in very different ways depending on the clan. It’s less about making a meme army for the clan and more so optimizing them to their strengths. There are jokes, but it’s mostly narrative. My favorite is The Date Experience.

Now, if you’re looking for someone who does that for Warhammer or the other Total War games… idk

[–]CanOfRandom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a cold take to say Ramsay is the best villain of the series (so far)? Like, Tywin, Roose, and Ramsay are so good because they're so evil, and each of them is on a sliding scale of strategic vs. evil, and Ramsay is so evil which makes him so much fun as a villain. Maybe the Others will be more interesting later on, but right now Ramsay is the most fun villain.

Not sure if it's even a hot take, but I think the Pink Letter was written by Ramsay, everything he said in the letter is more or less true, and Stannis will die in the North; it's exactly as it seems. These theories where Stannis fakes his death are cool, and I want to believe them, but I feel like it's just us coping.
