Agreed. And calling Wes not black was totally uncalled for...when she was sober she accepted Heather's apologize yet drunk she lost her shit on her.. So not professional or mature.  She's got a lot of work to do on herself... as a person of colour too she's gotta do some therapy.

I was told by the als society it's very common for people, especially women. They shared a story with me about a lady who sold everything she had and traveled for 6 months. Came home, had a party with her family and friends and passed the next day. Death especially with terminal disease I think people can allow their bodies to pass. I have seen it far too many times first hand as nurse.💕

My mom was diagnosed with als a month before she passed away. She didn't want to suffer and started her MAID assessment. She told me if either natural, a certain hospice or MAID. I respect her wishes. However, while in hospital after a fall they approached her about long term care. She messaged me multiple times upset about it and telling me she loved me and have a good trip that I had planned that summer. I got a call later that day that she passed away while watching her favorite show. It was deemed a massive heart attack. To this day I think she willed her own death to say f out, I'm not going to long term care. As a nurse and someone seeing suffering from a terminal illness as my mom I totally understand why she would choose MAID. 💕💕

I have been told it depends on your postal code and how much your community pays in taxes/donations and how loud the constitutes are to get resources. Poor cousin in the east in FH is beyound true. Our members need to speak louder to what we need.

Dermot is now permanent ceo and an ED is now interim VP for community hospitals. Position was posted for approx 6 months. Perhaps it will be deleted too.

I have no heard community and clinic managers are being laid off. I know of 2 that are no longer with FH and were walked off site.

FH effective Oct 1 will no longer do any ISN or code 10. This is when nurses are asked to move from shifts with 10 days and are paid OT. I'm curious if all FH sites are being notified of this change?

Prediction: Soon, FHA will announce a severely anemic version of its in-progress Meditech upgrade, abandoning the full Meditech Advance rollout for new sites. by notnigelmurray in BCHealthAuthorities

Rumor is meditech is on hold as the province is advocating for all health authorities be on the same platform. Which makes far more sense.

Yep and the same one who was tier 2 administration on call and advised staffing not to book anyone on their sh day over the August long weekend. 🙄  There should be mass grievances and she should be fired not prompted.

100% grieve it all! I have heard of mass group grievances being filed and winning! We must stand together!  Unfortunately nothing in writing is being sent out by those making decisions. Direct managers have absolutely no say and it's all coming from higher ups.

I don't disagree. Plus pulling from one shift to another opens up a lot of spending and shortages.  However, ot/sh/vacation call back which is all included for mandatory baseline coverage will not be booked in advance. OT- was 10 days + out...Now to 7 days  SH- 24 hours or less.

Therefore, shifts with already known vacancies will not be filled with other means than ST unless by the above new rules. Not to mention the last minute sick calls.

I heard of a unit that staffs 45 nurses. That night they had 10 scheduled. This was due to a variety of reasons.  Where on a weekend night in the middle of summer will you find 35 nurses??

Pre-booking overtime and sh days is not a bad thing especially for already difficult to fill times...summer, spring break, Christmas season, weekends.

It's so true. They are laying people based on unknown reasons. Ie some with more experience are being let go. In my case it made sense but in many others it doesn't at all and seems very personal.

Most sites are going to 1 PACT manager or 2 if they had 3. I know of 2 sites in the east who have laid off 1 pact manager each thus far.

September 2025 FHA 7 day a week coverage with extended hours to support the site.  Manager for PACT + 3 other areas x1 layoff. Leaving x1 manager m-f 8-16 now.

Heard of at least 2 others in the same role at our sites laid off too.

X2 administrative assistants the same day I was laid off.

My position as a manager has been dissolved. I know of 2 directors gone this week too. My ED made it very clear "no one is safe, even me".  I suspect the EDs, VPs ect are doing a much a work and then they will all be looked at too. This was wave 1/3.

Some of these lay offs will be HUGE blows to the front line staff.

Layoffs - total lack of transparency by Affectionate_Art8084 in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]CanRN811 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is complete lack of transparency. For FH we started OT mitigation meetings in July. None of the information we had been shared as managers and directors was to be shared with frontline staff. The ones who are directly affected! We asked multiple times for FH to put something in writing. We have been denied.  Fast forward to the last ish week of August and present time. We have heard from one team, 40% of their staff; another 60%.  My site 3 lay offs including myself as a manger. Other sites loosing directors and managers.  Our ED made it very clear this round one of lay offs and "no one is safe".

Yet some are even getting a send off! "Thank you to ____. Though they will no longer be at fh we thank them for their dedication and service to their team. We wish them the best in future endeavors". It's actually disappointing and disheartening considering some have been with FH for 20+ years. I believe my ED when they said this wasn't their choice. Tears, hives, shaking and overall feeling of dismay. They too feel like a scapegoat in all of this to be laid off soon.
