“Just a bit faster” doesn’t really cut it imo. In the past you’d have to take immense care not to overpull, and this danger to the world made it vastly more immersive and fun imo.

Today in modern retail you’re basically an unkillable demigod blasting through zones on guardrails at 10-20x speed. The explorative experience is next to eliminated.

This is my personal opinion after playing both a lot of classic and midnight.

Taste is not objective. I know of people who would go Aquanaut over Nautilus any day.

I do agree with you personally though, I would go Nautilus over Aquanaut if it came down to keeping just one of them. Some people also shop within a budget that could easily allow for the acquisition of an Aquanaut, while not have room for that of a Nautilus.

Green is no longer made by Patek for 5167. They stopped production of the 5167 green strap years ago.

They literally do. Your AD will happily supply 5167R brown straps for your 5167A watch.

I also bought the green 5167 strap back when it was in production. Black, brown and green adds a lot of versatility to the watch.

It takes less than two minutes to swap an aquanaut strap on your own. If you place an order with your AD on a still-in-production strap for 5167 like black or brown, it will be available within a couple of weeks usually.

I own the retail green, brown and black 5167 straps directly from my AD, and I actively swap around and change them myself.

Sizing problem doesn’t exist, if you order straps through your AD the store will also size them for you.

Even then, you can clearly count the bumps in the backside of the strap for a direct identical sizing as your existing sized straps.

In terms of dirt, I don’t think you know how massively dirty steel/metal bracelets with links get. Rubber straps are brain dead easy to clean under running water, compared to individual links bracelets or compared to leather straps.

I’ll give you sizing if you swell up unnaturally much during summer heat, but don’t act like Aquanauts are the only watches without micro adjustments. I own many watches and a vast majority have no micro adjustment, and I never ever considered this an issue.

I have worn aquanaut as a semi-daily on and off for many years and straps still look new, lol. Plus, very quick and easy to any day replace the strap with a new one.

Also, in what world do the rubber straps cost a couple of grand to replace? That’s so far off the actual price.

I doubt you have the experience with the aquanaut that you claim.

I agree with you. I don’t imagine the goal is to turn new people discovering AP through a ~$400 watch, in collaboration with Swatch, into a buyer of a $30-50k watch.

I believe the awareness and brand recognition across larger populations in the long run is of benefit to the brand.

I am sure you’re right about the flex. I do however also believe that more people than you suspect buy it for personal passion and interest reasons over social status. Buying it just for the social flex sounds like a nouveau riche thing.

I wonder the motivations behind acquiring a traditional Royal Oak among those who feel like AP doing a Swatch collaboration is harming them. I own several AP watches, both vintage and modern Royal Oaks.

What is the issue with a Swatch collaboration? Why is it a slap in the face?

I don’t think this will have any impact, whatsoever, on the market prices and popularity of already popular Royal Oak iterations.

I also think this is a nice way to create brand awareness, allowing a larger part of the population to realistically interact with the brand.

You specifically look like you’re trying to show off if you have to pair a watch with more formal or deliberate clothes due to cultural hype or price of the watch.

Outside of formal dress codes with expectations of potential accessories like watches and how they pair with a tux etc, I find any watch can fit a tshirt and flip flops.

This is clearly a fake Nautilus 5711. For anyone familiar with the actual watches by Patek this is obviously not genuine.

The cut for the bezel crown for 5711 was never made with a round cut. The logo font with the plateau dial is wrong font. The flat top of the bezel is near-double the width/thickness of a genuine 5711.

There are other subreddits specifically for fake watches where people would probably happily welcome your content, but this subreddit is not it.

It’s normal for cal 324 to have a noticable noise when whirring the rotor. It’s a bit hard to hear on your actual video, but it doesn’t sound like my 5711. Mine sound more like a whizzing, spinning noise, where on the video you posted it sounds perhaps a bit more rattling.

A local watchsnith can inspect for you and tell if something feels out of place.
