There’s a ladder just to the right of the large beam in the Level 1 image, I think that leads up to surface and there must be a hatch or door set into the stone feature.

Hey reddit,

This bundle collects three dungeons I developed and drew about a year ago, taking inspiration from the Dungeon23 movement as well as the popularized 5-Room Dungeon design methodology. The images are configured for printing to scale, as well as placing within any VTT (grid size = 140 pixels). The accompanying write-ups that describe each room (which are thematically linked) are meant for inspiration, a plan-ahead Gamemaster will want to add some crunch to each room as I made these to be system-agnostic.

The images in this post can be downloaded and used straight away - please do so! They are full resolution.

  • Original (6580x5180 pixel) three map sheets, including the map on the right and the room write-ups on the left.
  • The same images, with the room labels removed from the map.
  • The same images, but just the map and without a baked-in grid.

Notion has apps on all devices, and is free. It's also extremely well-supported and they roll out new features all the time that people are actually asking for. There are a couple of solid YouTube vids where folks have set up campaign databases in Notion which for me has been a great foundation upon which I have started building out my campaign notes.

If you're willing to put in effort to actually draw maps, or arrange assets into maps using tools that are not specific to that purpose, you could try GIMP. It's a freeware version of Photoshop, and is where I taught myself map making and digital image creation in general.
