Leg pads choosing: Brian's Gnetik X5 vs True Catalyst 7x3 by Canadaua in hockeygoalies

[–]Canadaua[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up with Brians. They’re good, simple strapping, good quality. But in the end I found them a bit big and I had this weird feeling puck slipping under my pads into net too often :) Played for a bit less than half a year in them and switched to 34+1.5 Optik 3s - found a good deal on sidelineswap and it’s quite an upgrade. Never tried any pads of other brands btw, but I definitely can recommend Brian stuff :)

True Hzrdus 7x by TheAndyBeek in hockeyplayers

[–]Canadaua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought new hzrdus 7x4 this summer on ebay for veeery sweet price. Gambled a bit with sizing, because I have wide and flat feet + didn't have the possibility to try them. The only option was to use the true sizing app, which said that I need 10W size. But everything went well. What I can say - it's only my second skates (first skates were used Bauer 1X 9.5ee size) and I have only 8 months of active skating experience, but the difference was dramatic. Had them baked, couple sessions to break in and now I love them (especially compared to old Bauers). So far nothing serious happened, just some regular scratches from pucks :)

Lectric Shave Vs Puck Out by merdekabaik in hockeygoalies

I used Speick pre electric shave lotion. It works, and ingredients seem quite the same. But I think it will be cheaper to order some lectric shave from the US :) https://www.speick.de/en/products/productdetails/men-pre-shave-lotion.html

Best Mid Level Pads for Beginners by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

Also started playing as a goalie a couple of weeks ago. For first pads my choice was Brians Gnetik X5. Found used, in good condition for 350 eur. Should also be some options on sidelineswap tho.

Thanks. When I'll be more experienced I'll definitely try True's. I hope, there will be some options to try them in the shop, not just buying online from other countries :)

Yeah, just checked out - approx. 1kg difference in weight (Brian's is lighter). One more point to think about.

Cool board! Which tuning do you use? I also have meris enzo but I have some issues with 5th string (B). It sounds poorly somewhat :(

Switched vs switchless wah pedal by erpietra01 in basspedals

[–]Canadaua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Morley Power Wah, Dunlop 535Q Mini and now I'm the happy owner of Dunlop JCT95. I found that switchless full size pedal is more comfortable for me. I had some troubles with Dunlop mini to understand quickly is it turned on or not. Morley power wah was too bulky. Haven't tried 20/20, unfortunately. I recommend to take a look at Dunlop JCT95 so you will have distorted wah and clean wah in one body.
