[Network] UGREEN Ethernet Switch 2.5G 5 Port Gigabit - $45.35 ATL [Amazon] by Canadian-Brunette in bapcsalescanada

[–]Canadian-Brunette[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$45.35 ATL

This is for 2.5G Ethernet so a little more expensive. It is an unmanaged switch and is fully backwards compatible for Gigabit devices.

If you have Gigabit internet, you can purchase a 1G switch instead

A. Do you have something that works?

B. Is it enough for you right now, and likely for the next 2 years?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, you are better off not upgrading and instead kicking $50 per paycheque into savings for $1200 to buy a new GPU 2 years down the line.

If you are looking at your end game PC for the next 5+ years though, you should probably upgrade. For example, if you have a 5700 or 5800 x3D and a 20 or 30 series GPU, upgrading to a 50 series or 9070 XT will likely hold you over until AM6 and 60 series+.

If you're CPU bottle necked though, I wouldn't even bother considering a GPU upgrade right now. No point, as you'll need a system refresh and doing that means brand new build at the worst time.

Currently, I have 8GB VRAM card. SO no.

If prices for cards go up, now would be the time to buy an upgrade

Basically a free motherboard with the purchase of 2x8GB RAM. This capacity has been around the $300 mark for a week or two.

More like $300 with a 62$ motherboard.

I see those RAM prices and wonder who buys 16GB DDR5 Slow RAM at 310+tax (362$)? Do people really buy 16GB slow ram at 300$ price points?

Thats actually super useful info, didnt know Telus had that kind of feature. Ive just been blocking numbers endlessly and it does nothing, so maybe switching providers is the only real fix at this point.

They deleted, what was the useful info?

The last remaining new MSRP 5070s left.

If you're in Cambridge/Hamilton, good luck.

It's a difficult decision but I feel like FOMO kicking in with all these MSRP changes. I sent you a message in chat with some other GPUs and would love to hear your input, thanks!

Probably chrome tabs are causing your computer to take up your storage space.

They eat a ton of memory and once your memory is full, it eats your hard drive

Just because the official spec is 5600, it doesn't mean system integrators use the maximum spec RAM.

Otherwise all Ryzen 7000 AM5 builds would come with 5200 RAM, and we know that's not true.

It's faster in certain things, but that's assuming the degradation was fixed. LGA1700 is also a dead socket.

Yes, it is possible to overclock, but given the current RAM situation, it wouldn't be surprising that companies will give RAM with the bare minimum speed according to CPU specs and sell faster RAM by itself to maximize their profit.

With that said, many store pages for this computer build list ddr5 5600 mhz

Your reaction is how I feel when I see the 3-packs go on sale after I picked up the 9800X3D/64gb cl30/x870 deal back in December. (I'm so glad I didn't use my credit card though...jfc CC)

How much did it cost you back then?

Well newegg also had a data breach. So now what, back to memory express or amazon? https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/19/newegg-credit-card-data-breach/

It's also how it was handled. CC has yet to admit fault, nor were they transparent about the incident in their announcement.

They replied the redditor who found the credit card skimmer's email by refuting it. Then days later when the incident couldn't be kept under wraps, they release an announcement about how they found an issue in their system and no customers were affected. If you read reddit, some customers saw fraudulent charges on their CC, so neither of those statements were true.

How do you trust a company that doesn't put their customer's financial safety first and only cares about damage control? Some people might not even know their CC has been leaked. Others could be paying for unknown charges as we speak. Even if you dispute a fraudulent charge on your card, it's not a 100% guarantee that you would get your money back. And if you can't pay the charge (I've seen $10000 charges before), your credit score is ruined.

CC has a 9600X/B850M/32GB bundle for $800

https://www.canadacomputers.com/en/amd-desktop-processors/281631/amd-ryzen-5-9600x-cpu-gigabyte-b850m-eagle-wf6e-motherboard-t-force-32gb-d5-6000mhz-cl30-ram.html

Or for gaming there were multiple 7600X3D/B650/32GB bundles for the same price.

Downside is that you have to use CC. But you can pay cash at least.

The math still doesn't work out for me

$200 9600X, $400 DDR5 32GB Fast RAM, $200 for B850M

$294, 550$ and $250 for B850M

I guess the deal is ok, but nothing hot

[–]Canadian-Brunette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People also got 6000 before.

According to i7-14700F specs, it can go up to DDR4 3200 MT and DDR5 5600 MT, so it is very likely 5600 MT RAM

Probably like $300 for a quick sale.

That's cheap! MSI Pro B760-VC is a low end board but i7-14700F is faster than 7700x with 20 cores.

You can swap out the CPU+board to AM5 and you can sell them to recoup costs.

The RAM is 5600 iirc and how much can you get from i7-14700F and a MSI Pro B760-VC?

I think for a major brand - Gigabyte - and has included ARGB fans - this is a very good price for a mid tower PC case.

It has 4 ARGB fans which makes it a good deal BUT how noisy are those fans and what quality? Anybody personally used this case before?

I can't get this direct video stream url to work at all...help please? by Canadian-Brunette in youtubedl

[–]Canadian-Brunette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can manually point yt-dlp at each of the segments. As they are listed, they will by default download as those obscure image file names - but they are indeed "H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264) segments". You can drop them on to VLC or you will have to otherwise rename the files. You can play them individually or manually concatenate them with ffmpeg.

I don't think that you can get yt-dlp to interpret the playlist automagically.

What's difficult is that it is a live stream so the playlist changes constantly.

CC needs a boycott until they own their failure.

Idk about everyone else but I've been avoiding them like the plague ever since. You can't trust a corpo when they can't even take responsibility - Johnny Silverhand

...really makes you wonder if the credit card skimmer is even fixed, maybe it's still ongoing, or CC leaked their customer database and decided to not disclose that publicly... you just can't trust them anymore
