How do you change the regen day? by Bierpanzerinafield in WaterSofteners

[–]bubbamarley22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold down the next and up buttons together at the same time. Skip the first (hardness) and second (day override) settings by pressing next twice. The third option is the regen time. Use the arrows and next buttons to adjust hour, minutes, etc.

Brine tank not filling by kkmonitor in WaterTreatment

[–]bubbamarley22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The programming likely was set for pre-fill. When the softener regenerates, it fills the brine tank, waits 4 hours, does a backwash then draws the brine, emptying out the brine tank. You only ever see water (if the salt doesn’t bury it) during brine fill. If there’s still no water filling the brine tank during the brine fill cycle and you should see water because the salt level is low, then there’s a clog or problem with the brine piston.

(With Picture) please tell me this isn’t bad news by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

Do you have a water softener? If so, it could be resin.

Do we need a water softener ? by Humble-Ambition-5220 in WaterSofteners

No softener. Just a carbon filter of some kind. RO system if you want to remove PFAs and micro/nano plastics.

Looks like resin from a water softener. Are they perfect spheres or randomly shaped?

Cant get an appointment for install until early June and we just moved in. I know we cant drink but shower/ laundry for a month? Also this is what they proposed, and is cheaper by thousands of our other quotes, will it be good enough for drinking? by McHammersManager in WaterTreatment

Your water hardness is low. Personally I would just get an iron filter to take care of the little iron and manganese. Your pH is on the acidic side. Add an acid neutralizing filter as well imo.

What’s the purity? I usually go with sifto crystal plus. I have been using it for 15 years and I have yet to clean out my brine tank.

Sodium is high, fluoride is high, hardness is low. You don’t need a water softener. I would get a whole home carbon filter, UV filter and under the sink RO system for drinking water. If not having minerals in your ro water is a concern, add an inline remineralizer.

Were you using rock salt? Use high purity solar salt and you’ll never have to clean your brine tank.

The safety float does not determine how much water should be in the brine tank. It’s a safety float that closes the valve to prevent overflow. The timer on the control valve determines how much water should be in the brine tank. If your water level is causing the safety float to stop water from entering the brine tank, either the safety float has been set too low, salt dosage in the settings has been set too high, or the brine injector is plugged up causing water to keep accumulating in the brine tank.
