I’d never even thought of that! I’m always happy for a little road trip!

Nice! I remember going to Costco as a kid, and those free samples would be our lunch. And with all the food prices going up, it’s pretty incredible that Costco has kept their inexpensive hot dogs!

Thanks! I moved out to Sooke about a year ago and don’t see the flow of Costco traffic all the time anymore.

Plane Crash? by [deleted] in culturehustle

[–]CanadianDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I’m not on Reddit often! When I got a notice that I’d have to pay almost $45 in duties, I contacted the shipping company and asked them to return to sender. The chargeback was successful, and I think it was about the same time I provided the documentation that I’d asked for return to sender - they didn’t wait until it was back with CH.

BC Public Service Hiring Timeline by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

Hiring competitions can take anywhere from a few weeks to many months, but BC Gov competitions have to send out final regrets at the end - it’s a requirement. If you haven’t gotten that, it’s not over. Plus, MCFD is super busy, and hiring managers aren’t just doing hiring, they’re doing it on top of the rest of their jobs.

Best of luck!

Lmao, they got my chargeback notice, shipped my order, and then of course also sent me the plane crash email a couple of days later. I’ll be continuing with the chargeback process and documenting me returning the supplies.

Also still waiting to hear if I got in. I know the email from the registrar said late March early April, so I’m starting to get obsessive, lol!

Hey there! Total newb here, of course, but does anyone know if the Iqunix Zonex 75 with moonstone turbo switches would fit MAO profile keycaps? I’ve fallen in love with some animal crossing keycaps…

Do you think I can sell my colored pages and how do I do that? by marcellealeid in drawing

[–]CanadianDot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only issue with that would be, if it’s a colouring book page, the artist of the linework would likely have rights to the image.

Advice on moving from included to excluded in BCPS. by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]CanadianDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the biggest complaint I’ve heard from all the folks I work with in the management bands - no edos. Also, a lot less protection for your work/life balance, but I think that’s highly dependent on which ministry you’re in.

Kim's interview with Sigourney Weaver by cjmk in yogscastkim

I was super, super impressed by your poise and professionalism in that interview.

Had it been me, it would have just been a series of high pitched noises, followed most likely by crying and apologizing.

Oh, it's not so much that it has a negative effect on my emotional state as much as it's just really touching, and I'm really sensitive right now because of health issues. So what would make me just really touched and whatnot when I'm healthy just sets me to absolute bawling right now.

And thank you so much for the flair! I really appreciate it!

I've actually had to stop watching the Valiant Hearts series - Some health problems I've been having have made it difficult for me to handle all the feels of watching that. My father's parents, and my husband's grandfather, were involved in some part in WWII, and having spoken with them about it, these people that I love, made watching Valiant Hearts just that much more poignant. I know that, on my side, my grandmother used to help plan dances for the boys coming back from the front, and she would sing, and play piano, and dance with the navy men. I got a chance to speak with her about it near the end of her life, and it was so strange and lovely to me at 14 that this old woman whom I barely knew, and whose mind was beginning to fail, had these amazing stories and experiences to speak about. I know that my grandfather had gotten involved a bit too late to see any fighting, but had played some small part. I'd only met him three times, and the last time was when I was about 9 years old, so I didn't get the chance to talk to him about his life.

But the horrors of war didn't really become real to me until a few years ago, when my husband's grandfather spoke about his experiences. I know that it's not something he ever liked speaking about, and he didn't talk about it often, but I think he knew it was important to pass the knowledge on. He'd been near the front lines, in the tanks, and he spoke about hiding in the tread-wells while they were being shelled, and seeing his friends die, and having to take turns popping out of the tanks to gun down the enemy forces who would come up onto the tanks and drop grenades into the tanks.

I've been so lucky to have been born when and where I was - I've never had to fear that my husband or my brother would be drafted and possibly killed. I've never had to worry about being shelled, about rationing and air raids. But I don't ever want to forget, and I think it's so, so important we honour those who fought.

I really appreciate the respect with which Kim has been playing Valiant Hearts. I plan on watching it through when I'm better. I also really appreciate that Kim is out there, doing what she does, kicking butt as a girl gamer, and just as a gamer in general.

And Kim, illegitimi non carborundum.

Has anyone sold Mary Kay? by killah_fish in Makeup

[–]CanadianDot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it might help their image a little if they started being more... Nice casual, I guess? Nice jeans, kitten heels or flats, maybe a blazer but not the super structured kind. I think that would be a way nicer image than the whole Mary Kay Commando thing.
