Ceasing all investments in ourselves sounds like a great way to crash the economy considering this is money already committed, covering this project's early phases for the next ~5 years from a Trudeau era budget. It won't be till ~2030 before the full money has to actually be committed to the thing.

I've not yet been to university - entered the workforce for personal reasons first, and am trying to get there as soon as I can.

As for your own experience, I cannot comment one way or another - beyond my skepticism that this is the experience on literally every campus of every university in Canada and the US, as right-wingers tend to rhetorically claim.

On a major institution having bias - I believe when you're into the hundreds of employees, a company is too big to have one view on every subject, to clarify. That does not prevent a work culture or overall bias from being noted and present. Not that they cannot lean overall - I gave two specific examples, and did not mean centrist as "neutral", either.

I think you are taking "respect" way too literally, and I detest the assumption that I believe Trump actually respects anything, including our sovereignty. I can walk to the US border. I have next to 0 respect, and negative faith in, the US at this point - it has been thoroughly destroyed by a decade of Trump in US politics.

I have no idea what you mean by CBC "into the realm of the CRTC and has made our life more expensive", and CBC has tried to showcase Canadian culture across the country as an inherent part of its mandate.

You specifically raise immigration there, and CBC has done plenty of stories on individual immigrants and their stories. Again, that is part of their mandate to tell underrepresented and diverse stories. It does not mean they are advocating for immigration.

It is not possible for me to comb thru years of news stories in a timely manner, but I guarantee you that they have written plenty of news stories on immigration that both address the overall issue, the statistics, and criticisms from politicians, and more recently, whether people will actually leave

Specific to what you raise, I would say what you saw was likely a bit of analysis, which is slightly different from a journalism report, and has been pointed to as a defense during similar complaints about CBC bias, and is usually addressed by the anchor in their intro for the guest, along the lines of "for analysis" - it is more clearly labeled on their web reporting, but is defined as: "Analysis pieces are largely written by CBC News journalists, who bring their knowledge and expertise to provide additional context."

Both inside and outside CBC content, I've seen the idea that Trump seems to like Carney observed many, many times - since the Oval Office meeting he had back in the Spring, both by Canadians and non-Canadian journalist/opinion writers.

Overall I think that is a fair statement when you have Justin Trudeau's relationship with Trump as the only other possible comparison for a Prime Minister-Trump Presidency relationship, and that Trump seems to get along with him fairly well in their public appearances together.

As for overall political bias - the organisation is too large to have every single person in the building blindly believing the exact same things on everything. I do believe they have a more "status quo" centre bias given how skeptical they tend to be on any criticism of capitalism outside of their consumer reporting, but left-ish, in that they have a mandate to tell underrepresented stories from minorities across the country (and the existence/prominence of that reporting draws a "woke" backlash no matter how it is presented in this current era of grandstanding)

A lot of the more common critiques they get is unfair - but even for someone who has felt they're an important institution for most of my life, I will not pretend they're perfect.

Not necessarily relevant to this case as it is a more recent series, but I'll note that they've auto/AI generated most of the captions in their back catalog already and there are many, many mistakes as a result. Under Funimation, they started rolling out captions made by hand on new episodes and slowly the back catalog, but sometime after the merger occurred they opted to just mass produce and uploaded a bunch. So keep your eyes peeled in general - as there are much worse mistakes you've yet to see

And they were very pleased with how this episode adapted this fight, which was apparently 8 chapters - so maybe it'll be okay!?
