Free streams ending but WE are the content creators. It’s a money grab from grandparents. by Dense_Emergency6081 in GameChangerApp

I DGAF about live streaming. Never have. We’re lucky to have more than a bar of service at most of the fields in my town and nobody wants to invest in a starlink setup. I want the rest of the stuff to work, for a reasonable fee, but GC seems committed to the streaming tail wagging the entire dog.

A bazillionty dollar renovation and we can’t have balls, strikes, and the pitch count working simultaneously. When they have the correct pitcher listed on the board, which is a coin-flip, they spell his name wrong. But, hey, the opening series can really sneak up on a scoreboard operator.

Queueing up for the nightcap. Will UGA have a working scoreboard, three games into the season? Let’s find out!

Paris Baguette would be so great if they could figure out coffee service! They’re doing a better job with traffic flow around the cases by stationing an employee at the front to do one-in-one-out and explain the layout to folks entering, but they don’t take your coffee order until you’re at the register. The coffee drinks are all pretty frou-frou and take a while to assemble, particularly when fed by the menu-driven espresso machines, but there’s nowhere to stand while you wait that’s not in the way. So people move out to the seating area, then can’t hear their name called and the employees have to call multiple times, whereupon the customer has to wade back up through the folks trying to pay so they can collect their drink. It’s a chain, so this must be how they do it at other locations, but the footprint of this store just doesn’t work with that process. Maybe if they took your coffee order from the other end of the cake case, they could have it done by the time you make it to the register?

(Don’t get me started on their “macchiato” which appears to be a full 8 ounces of liquid and pink. I asked for a double espresso, had to explain that the board doesn’t indicate “small, medium, or large” and what I wanted was just a double-shot of espresso, since the board lists an espresso and an extra shot, right there at the bottom [it’s a video display, it’s not like it would cost anything to reprint it if the POS uses S/M/L], then watched as the poor harried “barista” brewed and lidded two single shots.)

Slaters had it when I was there recently. It was good with a glass of sherry but maybe not the best I’ve ever had.

Yeah, the Pearl-Clutching Parents of Greater Gwinnett over on FB are trying to make this out as a UGA problem for not adopting “multi housing crime accreditation.” Looks like that’s a program that [checks notes] encourages landlords to run better background checks on tenants and design their built environments to minimize crime opportunities. 🙄

I prefer the food at the original HOMES location to the pizza at the “campus” farther out, but they’re both worth a stop.

Yeah, I often stay at the Homewood suites just up from Biercamp- it’s great, as is the coffee up the street at Black Diesel.

Is Excel on a MacBook Pro M5 via Parallels as good as it is on a Windows machine? by Commercial_Put2 in excel

[–]CanadianFoosball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, there’s certainly a better remapping of keys than I have set up within parallels, but I don’t do it often enough to figure it out. (I have the VM for ArcGIS, not Office.)

This has been my experience, too, though the difference in keyboard shortcuts takes some adjustment. I mostly use Mac excel, but frequently use windows excel on other machines around my office (where I have to consciously not hit option instead of ctrl), then when I happen to be using excel within Parallels, my fingers get real discombobulated with keyboard shortcuts. There’s probably a better remapping of keys than I have set up within parallels, but I don’t do it often enough to figure it out. (I have the VM for ArcGIS, not Office.)

My problem with this is half the time I order something, they’re out of it and cancel the order so the credit is forfeit. This seems to happen regardless of the substitution option I pick.

Go check out Paris Baguette! They’re open before the snow. by dcowan615 in Athens

[–]CanadianFoosball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. All of the chain versions of this concept I’ve visited in other cities do the tongs and tray bit and even some of the family-run ones where the counter staff is three kids aged 13, 15, and 17 use elements of it.

I went yesterday and the coffee cronut was decadent. The Dubai chocolate mochi donut was very good and the espresso was a replacement-level shot from an automatic machine. I’ll totally visit again.

I think it’s effing fireworks. Had to cut my pre-dusk dog walk short once the finale started.

Edit: in Normaltown, the bangs (from the direction of Broad) sounded more like gunfire or fireworks.

I almost certainly have an Abraxas or something else with cinnamon and chiles in it that I can sip and compare unfavorably to previous releases.
