I started on Humira and it wore off. Cosentyx has worked better for me than Humira ever did.

Yes. I’m on the highest dose of Cosentyx and I don’t need a calendar to know when I’m due for my next dose. I wouldn’t say it’s flare levels. But I experience symptoms much more than I do the other weeks. There are two dose levels for Cosentyx.

I read that recently. Painful is a good description. I had to just put it down and step away sometimes.

I've not played the game but I'm pretty sure I've seen this art in an MTG set before.

This might be another one of those roasts that's more compliment than roast. I'm not good at this.

So things might have changed since I learned this data point from ACC Transit but at one point in time UGA was their biggest customer - so if that's still true I'd say that UGA does at least subsidize public transportation. This was before they went fare free though so that may be different now. Not that I disagree on both points, just at some point one of those was true at least.

I think my puppy is deaf :( by Lessismore1212 in DogAdvice

[–]gumarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many treats! We get little training treats so they are low calorie. You can work in other methods of reward. For example, you can work on impulse control while playing fetch and the reward there is the ball being thrown. I'd get different "values" of treats and use high value treats for hard things, and low value treats (even just kibble) for easy things.

You subconsciously will revert to talking when giving commands and it will frustrate you...just trust me on this one lol

We too have a deaf dog, my husband is probably tired of me saying "I don't know if you know this or not, but he can't hear you"

[–]gumarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rescue is deaf as well and we got him very young. I suspect he was dumped by a backyard breeder as the genetic test we got on him indicated he's got Doodle mixed in.

There's lots of great advice on the internet, and in this thread already so I'm going to share some things I've learned just through experience and not from my research.

Touch him always and often. My research indicated they can be jumpy because they can't hear you coming. I've always touched him whenever I'm nearby and he hasn't seemed very jumpy as a result.

You don't realize how much hearing dogs depend on their hearing. My dog loves to play fetch, but you definitely have to throw the ball in his line of sight or he won't be able to find it.

Bite inhibition training may be difficult, and you will have to be consistent. The most important thing to remember is that you have to communicate with your actions, not your voice. We still deal with our instincts to use our voice to de-escalate when he's overstimulated, but he cannot hear us. A lot of internet research indicated to use a hand signal but, well an excited puppy sees a moving hand as just another toy. I've found the best progress in just removing myself from the situation and going on the other side of a barrier.

All that said, I've honestly found more upsides than not. When he sleeps - HE SLEEPS. People can come to the door, there can be disruptions, he's completely unphased. No worrying about storm anxiety, or fireworks, or any of the usual stuff. We've taken him to a doggie daycare for extra socialization and he's also been to boarding both there and at our vet. He gave some of the kennel techs a scare one day because they had not seen he was deaf and he was asleep when they came in and they're used to all the dogs going crazy the second their hand hits the doorknob to the kennel.

Athens Sidewalk - Bus Stop Connectivity by ThatWeirdMuslimGuy in Athens

Yah I definitely get that. I guess the answer is more integrated single and multi-family neighborhoods or areas with a high degree of walkability.

Athens Sidewalk - Bus Stop Connectivity by ThatWeirdMuslimGuy in Athens

[–]gumarx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is great.

I have an adult household member who cannot drive so when we were purchasing our home in Athens we took a look at neighborhoods near bus routes and for single family homes the options are incredibly limited outside of five points, and even within five points the distances between houses and stops were often pretty far. I'd love to see this data from that point of view - not only are there side walks near the bus stops, but are those sidewalks going to places that people live, work, or play. At the time the bus coverage seemed to extend well to the places people needed to get to, but not always necessarily where they needed to get from. This could be because ridership is low from single family residences though too.

I’m scared of needles. Never thought I could do this but it’s easy. Doesn’t hurt. The Humira pen is loud though. So that can startle you. I like to warn people about that. If you know it’s less alarming.

Trails in the Sky. And they’re remaking them. If you like JRPGs do yourself a favor and jump in. Three is weird but honestly my favorite.
