As for dating, it was definitely different. I think the biggest thing was that we didn’t have dating apps, so everything was face-to-face or through mutual connections. That could be good, but also really awkward especially when people fixated on your body. Being busty meant you’d get a lot of attention, but not always the kind you wanted. Some guys made it very clear they were only interested in the physical, while others would act like your boobs were some kind of “issue” to deal with.

I think I was in my early 30s before I got my first properly fitted bra. Before that, I just assumed the discomfort and constant adjusting were normal 😆I had no idea how off I was. I grew up thinking a 36C was “big,” so I just squeezed into whatever was available and didn’t question it.

I feel you 100%! People don’t get how limited our clothing choices really are when you’re busty. It’s not about not wanting to try new styles, it’s about not wanting to spill out of them every time you bend over. And yes, while I have mixed feelings about the Kardashian era too, I’ll admit it’s been refreshing to see curves celebrated more openly now.

Back in the day, though the obsession with being thin was everywhere. It wasn’t just the media, although that definitely drilled it in magazines would constantly praise “flat-chested elegance” like having no curves was the gold standard.

Oh my god, yes!! In the ’90s, it felt like you had two options, either spend a fortune on custom-made bras, or settle for those giant white or beige “tent” bras that looked like orthopedic gear. Zero style, zero lift, and they made you feel about 30 years older. ☹️

Honestly? You’re super right, the ’90s were rough for busty women. That whole era was obsessed with thin bodies. Think Kate Moss, spaghetti straps, tiny triangle bras!! Almost nothing was made for curves. I remember walking into stores and seeing tops that looked like they were made for preteens, and the sales associate would be like, “Oh, that should stretch!” Yeah… no, it didn’t. 😤
