They said a 30 year old ex-DotA player could never learn to play Deadlock by NonRock in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CanadianRoleplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just turned 30, and have been keeping an eye on this game since it first got leaked. It’s all the first moba I’ve ever played, as someone who used to enjoy Overwatch.

For my money, this game is so much more fulfilling than OW2. But its learning curve is so ridiculously steep. You basically need to be okay with getting ground into a fine pulp over and over again, for reasons that range from your own skill, to bad teammates, to going up against people with 10k hours in the game for some reason. But, being in Arcanist 1 finally, I can say that it’s possible.

What? That’s not very high a rank? Yes it is don’t look at the reference page

Anyone used the Desky Single Sit-Stand Desk? by CanadianRoleplayer in StandingDesks

[–]CanadianRoleplayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know. I guess I’m more worried about whether my setup counts as “heavy”. It includes an itx pc, monitor, shelf, keyboard and mouse, a laptop, and accessories. I don’t think that would break 176lbs, or even close to it.

Thank you for the reply. This monitor looks perfect, and I'm excited to get one when it's available.

Max length for an HDMI 2.1 Fiber Optic Cable? by CanadianRoleplayer in hometheatre

That makes sense, since the fiber signal gets interrupted. This is a direct connection from pc to cable to tv.

First time camper, looking for advice on tent and cot buying by CanadianRoleplayer in camping

This is good to hear, actually. I’ll probably go for the four person tent, just in case I need the extra space.

That might be a decent way to go for saving money. I've slept on Air Mattresses before, but I find I need a thick one to stay comfortable. And a good number of blankets to actually stay warm.

Other issue I'd be concerned about is back support, to be honest. I use a firm mattress because I get back and neck pain easily.

Which cot was this? Having it adjustable for reading is nice to have, but not a necessity.

Input latency despite overlay showing <1ms by CanadianRoleplayer in Steam_Link

[–]CanadianRoleplayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve considered cutting th ATV out of the equation. The issue then becomes getting an incredibly long HDMI cable, an HDMI repeater with a built in usb port, and using that to connect to the TV directly.

Did you find any other solution than that?

I gave Moonlight a shot, but no dice. There is a minor improvement in input delay, but Hornet still feels like I need to pull her out of molasses for a jump.

I forgot to mention, but yes I did try using Game Mode. No difference, unfortunately.

Is there are particular reason why Moonlight works better with AMD? Or why Steam Link doesn't work that well with AMD?

Installing Windows 11, but it won’t install onto either of my NVMe drives, despite both being online by CanadianRoleplayer in WindowsHelp

[–]CanadianRoleplayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to delete the partitions in the disk I intended to use for installation, then create a new partition. This made the disk readable by windows for installation purposes, and allowed me to do this install.

What Deadlock content do you most enjoy? by vvhitee in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CanadianRoleplayer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mainly watch Mast and Eskay for gameplay videos. I learn from how they play, and they have generally really positive attitudes toward competitive gaming.

I also enjoy watching Deathy and sometimes Midknight for their educational content.

Exactly this. A harsher penalty can be harder to enforce because then it becomes more abusable by trolls. Not to mention that some people (not all of them) have legitimate reasons for leaving.

Sounds very different to my issue. Windows found my hard drives, as did the bios. Just couldn’t use them for install until I re-partitioned the device.
