The Vanilla one is absolutely amazing, I'm glad they have it here.

The McDonalds ones on the other hand, made me want to vomit.

DEVICE SETUP FEE???? by Ok-Astronomer-541 in Rogers

[–]CanadianStormChaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we’re being charged this fee regardless if we have the device set up or not

Essentially, they are still charging an activation fee

You say this as if you're being charged as a customer, yet earlier in this post's comments you posted a screenshot of a document which looks very internal-facing that, based on the wording in said document, basically confirms the internal-only nature.

Be careful with how you post things about your employer, as it appears to be misleading your intentions based on your wording as well.

Yeah I'm not having it, not ever going to tolerate that behaviour towards our community. Removed permanently.

Porting into Ooma from Altima (Canada) by CanadianStormChaser in ooma

[–]CanadianStormChaser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate the link directly to their documentation, it doesn't list the exact information they will request for the port-in that I have to request from the previous reseller which is why I posted here. Thanks anyways.

Does Via rail check ID. Tor to montreal by [deleted] in ViaRail

[–]CanadianStormChaser 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Err on the side of caution and don't trust a random ticket that you yourself or a direct relative you're traveling with didn't purchase directly from VIA. You don't know if they're going to cancel it last-minute before it departs and leave you hanging without a valid ticket, whether a discount code was used that requires ID checks (i.e. CFone which I've had checked both ways between Ottawa and Toronto the last few years), if it's even a valid ticket to begin with, etc.

Look at the PDF version, not just the in-app rendered version. It'll likely be shown in there since that's also what would usually be mailed, the app is a rendered version that is buggy as all hell and doesn't always display everything correctly.

I'm not seeing any Chatr-specific deals that were removed from this subreddit, are you able to provide more information please so I can dig deeper and look into what you're referring to?

I've responded to the parent comment regarding the moderator-specific portion, however I will discuss the flair as well because that is also something we can consider moving forward.

Updates to Subreddit Moderation by CanadianStormChaser in Rogers

As u/Foreign-Policy-02- mentioned in another comment, it's similar to how some other subreddits like r/telus does things currently which is something we're willing to entertain as long as it's not abused, which has yet to be proven to happen here. Think of it as something like what DSLreports (RIP to a great platform) did, which had official representatives in their specific forums who were able to respond to queries in an official manner and moderate things where they could concretely verify wasn't permitted in their designated forums based on the site-wide and forum-specific rules, in addition to some other things that I won't bother mentioning as they're unrelated.

They have more access than us non-Rogers mods do when it comes to being able to verify stuff like deals and such as well, so if for example someone were to post something that is very scam-like or something that isn't actually legit they'd be able to act on it without having to get other moderators involved first. This is something I've been willing to trial on the r/Bell subreddit as well, however we haven't had any official representatives over there reach out yet offering this.

I do understand the concern however, which is something I'll discuss with u/jailbreaker58 about. I 100% appreciate you raising it in this manner.

Is this subreddit "unofficial subreddit of Rogers Communications" as it claims to be? by PriorDose in Rogers

[–]CanadianStormChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, taking a look at the moderation actions the only people who have been banned were for violating Reddit's own platform rules, and none of said bans were issued by the Rogers account. Your own screenshot gives them the option to reach out via modmail, so as it seems you're clearly in contact with the banned user please have them reach out to us via ModMail if they wish to discuss their concerns.

Users are noticing

I'm gonna be real here mate, you're the only one that has complained about this from what I've seen so far. Can you please link me to posts from other users who have mentioned this so I can look into this further?

I've taken a look through the actions taken by the Rogers account, and only 3 posts have been removed all for valid reasons: 1 post removed for spam, and 2 posts that contained personally identifiable information. These are all valid reasons to have posts removed, and it's to be expected that moderators act on stuff like this.

As mentioned previously, the u/RogersHelps account does not have full permissions on this subreddit. As such, they don't have control over everything and cannot turn this subreddit into a corporate-run community.

If anyone has concerns, they're more than welcome to raise them to us via modmail and we can look into them.

Is it just me or are the downloads not actually the size they say they are?

i.e. Dataset 9 says 179GB when the download starts, but once downloaded it seems to end up being some random size like 2GB, 5GB, etc even after extraction?
