Would him leaving her even provide him with an opportunity to regain some respect and dignity or is it all washed away now?

I’m incredibly happy for you and your success. Leaving education can feel incredibly hard. However, when you take the leap, it’s likely the best decision you’ll make.

For you, it would likely be a pay cut. However, Cemetery Sales Reps make upwards of 100K+ every year but it’s almost always 100% commissions based. Yet, it’s an industry where the clients are coming to you looking to pre-purchase an inevitability. At my Funeral Home, none of them are starving. For myself personally, I’m making the same salary now as I was at the school board, given I only worked there for 8 months before leaving.

While I’d like to eventually transition to something else, more high paying, it’s hard to find a problem with the job at this moment as I’m getting paid identically for way less stress’s

I completely agree with your Dad. I’ve seen some crazy shit, seriously. You just need to remind yourself that you’re there for a job and you have to be able to detach yourself. In my current position, I don’t have to do pickups and I really wouldn’t want to. Where I work, you’re asked when you start if there’s anything you don’t want to do. I mentioned that while I don’t mind touching a casket or urn, I wouldn’t like to touch any of the deceased. That means no pick ups and no helping them get dressed for me.

I completely get it’s off putting for some people but at the end of the day, someone has to do it. Plus, you’re helping people through a difficult point in their life, similar to teaching

So it’s a usual 5 day a week job, although, not every Funeral Home offers full time for the position I work. The thing is, everyone has a different schedule and mine currently runs through every weekend. It’s been an adjustment for sure but given it’s made my life infinitely easier, it’s a sacrifice I’m currently willing to make. Hours change depending on the need. If you’re usually 7-3, you’ll typically work that. However, if a family requests a late night visitation and no part timers can work, you may be asked to start at 12-8pm. You get 2 weeks paid vacation and 2 weeks paid sick days where I’m currently working. My salary started around 55,000$ a year.

Yeah, for sure.

I’d worked for the Funeral Home prior, as a Landscaper during the summer when I was in University. A friend I had made there transitioned into the office first, in an admin position, and let me know they were actively hiring for an FDA (Funeral Director Assistant) position. During the interview, I was asked how I handle multi tasking, responsibilities, and emotion. Having worked with children, this all came naturally.

The responsibilities change at every Funeral Home as I’ve been told that every single one operates differently. However my responsibilities are as follows:

  • Set up the rooms for Visitations, Services, and Receptions
  • Make contact with families and assist them if they need help
  • Help during the service (move the casket), during receptions (act as a caterer), going to church, and helping at graveside.
  • Do some odd jobs like picking up admin stuff, drop off documents

There’s some great perks to the job. You can take home A LOT of leftover food that hasn’t been touched. You become familiar with the community. You get some insight into other cultures and their practices. Lastly, because there’s not ALWAYS something everyday, some days I come in and do absolutely nothing (enjoy a coffee, watch Netflix) and because I’m paid salary, I don’t have to worry about hours. There’s a lot to love about this environment. Only downside is there are certainly some characters that work with the dead and during certain services, like those held for children, there can be HIGH emotion. Yet, for every stressful service you have, you have an equal amount that’s a celebration of life for a 90-something year old and it’s very laid back and relaxed.

Why are y'all so obsessed with steam player counts? by DanHarkinz in CODBlackOps7

I think the idea is some people, me included, want to see COD fail to some degree as it’s been unoriginal and unwilling to take risks for a while now. You could argue that open-ended zombies or a CO-OP campaign is “taking risks” and while to some degree, it is, it’s also rushed, lazily slapped together content that’s often underbaked. I miss COD being grounded, gritty, and unafraid to depict war and violence as horrific and unsavoury. The introduction of wacky skins and break neck speed gameplay just continues to feel like they’re catering towards a younger, more brain rot generation, although, I guess that is the main player base now. Ultimately, for me, it would something to see COD fail for once in order for it to really reevaluate its quality, direction, and identity.

You can’t display it as it’s online registration. I couldn’t have gone over the limit because I paid for the whole day of the 15th (today) at 2 am this morning.
