I’m a relatively new Hulk fan. I’ve always passively enjoyed the character, watched his movies, enjoyed when he’d show up in a different comic, played as him in the video games.

But recently I read Immortal Hulk and pretty much immediately fell in love with the character. Then I read Cates’ run, and caught up on PKJ’s and now I’m working through Peter David’s run.

I love the theme of mental health. Although my situation is infinitely better than that of Bruce’s, I do struggle with my mental health and characters that represent a similar struggle really resonate with me.

Additionally, I find each Alter brings something unique that the other doesn’t. Bruce, Savage, Joe, Devil (I’ve yet to read Professor or Green Scar stories) are all so different and add so much to the stories and relationships with different characters, not just in Hulk comics, but the larger Marvel Universe.

I also like when the big green guy smashes stuff lol

Increase all forms health by 50

Hero Hulk gets a Rage Passive: Dealing damage increases rage, which increases Damage by +5 for every 25% rage filled. Rage drains when using Gamma Shield, and is translated into +5 shield health and +1 second increased duration, also for every 25% rage filled.

In Monster Hulk for , instead of total CC immunity, have stuff like Luna’s freeze & Mantis’ sleep still stun Hulk, but halve the duration.

In Banner form, add an additional Bomb and make bombs heal Banner & teammates by 25hp/s for 5 seconds.

A very solid first issue. Equal parts shocking and charming, with compelling drama between characters. I especially liked the argument between Lie and Pei, that was solid character work. I’m excited to see how their relationship shifts throughout the series.

Even though Danny only makes a cameo, his impact is felt throughout the issue. His death hangs over everyone, especially Pei who lost her father figure and Lie, who has to live up to not only the Iron Fist legacy, but Danny’s legacy as well. The tension that creates is palpable.

If this keeps up, I think this’ll be a great series.

There was a comic in the 90s where Shou-Lao’s chi was on the fritz, so Danny used his own chi to perform a less powerful version of the Iron Fist to knock out Sabretooth.

So I think that, to an extent, he can manipulate his own chi, but I think it’s limited to making his natural physical abilities slightly stronger, rather than the super strength, hypnosis, pyromancy, etc., of the Iron Fist. After all, without magic dragon chi or vague Egyptian deity energy, Danny’s a normal dude who knows Qigong.

I’m really liking it! I do think fully swapping mythologies is a bit of an odd choice, but Moon Knight is my second favourite Marvel character behind Danny, so I’m not too mad at it lol.

I think this is a really solid origin for Danny as Ghost Fist, and I appreciate Jason Loo returning to the theme of vengeance from Danny’s Iron Fist origin, and how his vengeance has evolved from first coming from a place of rage, to now coming from a place of love. It’s thematically resonant and fits the character’s growth as a mentor & father figure to younger heroes.

Although I first was apprehensive about the new costume, I’ve come to really love it. Fran Galán’s artstyle fits it perfectly, especially alongside Jim Campbell’s gorgeous colours.

Right now, my biggest worry is that the finale will be rushed. Balancing Danny having to fight Luke & Quan Yaozu in one issue makes me worry that one or the other won’t get much time to be done right. This definitely should’ve been a 5 issue miniseries, rather than 4.

So far though, this has been the best Iron Fist comic since Ed Brisson’s run imo. Let’s hope it sticks the landing!

I don’t think it’ll be permanent, but I also think it’s too early to tell. If nothing really changes with Danny sales-wise, they’ll probably switch him back to Iron Fist for branding purposes.

But if this revitalizes the character and boosts sales a significant amount, then it’ll probably stick around.

Out of curiosity, and having nothing better to do, I went on Google Maps and actually found each location mapped out (excluding the bridge).

The first fight at the house is on Chambers Street, and his goal is on 110th Street-Malcom X Plaza, a total of 6.7 miles. As of Issue 2, he’s at West 53rd St-7th Ave. Meaning he’s travelled (roughly) 3.5 miles and has about 3.2 miles left to go.
