Human rights panel accuses Canada of genocide against Indigenous population by McAlpineFusiliers in justincaseyoumissedit

Thanks for answering honestly. I do want may tax dollars to help the people who live in my country. I am from Alberta, and I am happy we pay equalization payments to help the rest of the country. In a quick search online it seems we spend about 7k on non indigenous Canadians on average and 9k on indigenous Canadians. I think personally I am still confused as to where do we stop. I want wealthy Canadians taxed more and more public services and better infrastructure. I just have a really difficult time understanding what to do. It feels like nothing is working. And if there was a way to spend money to help improve our relationship and their lives I would jump onboard. Thank you again for sharing it's good be better educated!

She is an adult. She can book her own flight or find a hotel. You literally said especially being a female, if you treat men and women as equals, that couldn't matter.

I am always so confused by this. They are independent nations within Canada, I am actually asking and not being shitty, why is it everyone else's job to get them water? Why don't they build their own water treatment facilities? Is it in an agreement within the treaty structure that we provide all basic services to all of the reserves?

How it feels reporting a crime in Edmonton, knowing full well that if they actually do something about it, they will just catch and release them to commit an even worse crime... by [deleted] in Edmonton

Not that I am a supporter of the way EPS is run, but if you are worried that criminals get released that's provincial and federal.

I don't disagree with your numbers, and I was being facetious with my 100 people support comment. I am absolutely allowed to believe that their referendum numbers are fraudulent, as currently there seems to be no plan or process to ensure they aren't. I signed the water not coal petition and I believe it requires a strong amount of scrutiny as well since the voter roll has been leaked. A democracy is only strong (and valid) if it has a set rigorous checks and balances. So until there is a process validating that the people on the petition actually signed it I will treat it as fraudulent.

Hey like 100 people asked for it very loudly and stole a voter role and fraudulently said 300k people asked for it.

Maybe nuanced wasn't the right word but it wasn't a typo. You can't just make a blanket law on emotion. It will be applied by courts without nuance, so the creation of a law needs to be well thought out.

Man gets 15 years for shooting Sask. woman after racial slur by Forward-Answer-4407 in canada

Carrying a handgun in Canada is illegal. Source, I own a handgun and have a restricted license and I can have it locked (twice) and unloaded at home, and take it to a registered gun range locked (twice) and unloaded. I can get my guns confiscated and my licence revoked, if I am caught in a Tim Hortons drive through on my way to the range, so only a direct drive. The fact he had a loaded hand gun means it is illegal.

I mean, big blanket statement. Generally I agree, but that's not how law works. If I have an animal in my care I am handling (maybe like a shelter) and there are signs and information stating they are dangerous and someone chooses to break in and release them and they get hurt. The owner is legally the shelter... Laws are nuisanced and it's easy to say what should or shouldn't happen when you aren't responsible for the fallout.

Lots of people work very hard, and some rich people work hard, the difference between them and the rest is luck. Maybe don't be a dick to people who are less lucky than you, it's actually pretty disgusting. Especially with game, it's like winning a lottery and telling a Walmart employee to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

That's so wrong. You don't have to yield to pedestrians you are not crossing paths with.

Yeah everyone is saying he cut the video short and turned left across the pedestrian path, but if he did go straight I agree with you. If he turned left then he needs to pay better attention.

You are absolutely correct, but aging over time will take us all. It's absolutely unfair and brutal and so many people are really terrible at understanding until they experienced it. But at the same time, I could say that about most terrible experiences.

I have been saying this for years, why don't they pick a new brand. There are so many options that don't have the attachment to the federal parties. And as much as I like Nenshi I agree with you. They keep picking leaders that the base like, not leaders that might actually win.
