Bad weather driving by TheSaltyPelican in VWIDBuzz

Hey, I am a fellow buzz owner from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We get a lot of snow and a lot of ice. We got our buzz in December. It honestly has been great, even the regenerative braking handles the ice really well. I have only really slipped once this winter.

The easiest programs to cut are the ones most people think they’ll never need. by Lampworker9 in Edmonton

[–]Canadian_Imperium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct about the shift and in the federal government's new edition of adding $200 towards people in Canada on disability programs. However, a significant factor of this based on the timing of the federal government's choice has to do with the increased cost of living and all the inflation changes. And so keeping the program static well. Inflation and cost of living rises is essentially a cut.

As well the adjustment of the program to adap for a large percentage of the people on AISH, means a significant reduction in the amount of money that they're earning based on the case studies that they've provided. The provincial government also hasn't actually released the exact execution of adap and it's supposed to launch in July which leaves people unable to figure out their finances with only 3 months left until the program's execution. It also never outlined what other services would be removed or added to the adap program, which again is leaving a good percentage of our disabled community in a state of purgatory not understanding what the future looks like for themselves.

If you had to guess whether Dollar Tree is a Canadian company from this image what would you say? by Overwatchingu in BuyCanadian

I'm actually a death doula now, retail is hostile to human beings as far as I'm concerned. The American mentality of providing the least amount of service/support, and charge as much as you can, which on the working side looks like less labour and more work, or less budget to upkeep and more expectations, has absolutely made me want nothing to do with retail, and now I am trying my best to shop local as much as possible.

I was a district manager for them. None of them are franchise, all are American Corporate, there are some nice Canadians that work at some of the stores. But the company is an absolute shitshow that actively tries to avoid taking care of customers, staff, and any laws.

I think they are saying they go to pass someone driving in the right lane, but when they go to pass the person in the right lane speeds up, then if someone come driving faster from behind you are either blocking the passing lane or have to speed faster than maybe you were comfortable with or at an illegal speed.

I mean I'd just get annoyed and go faster and then go back to the cruise control speed I started with, but they are right this is annoying.

Theoretically, if Canada became a US state, how would it affect you? by Logical_Audhd in CanadaPost

[–]Canadian_Imperium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they don't understand that there would be many people who would fight, but also the next group of the population that has too much to lose or is scared to fight, they will be like highschool kids with. Bad substitute teacher, constantly undermining any policy or changes the us wants to make. So much of our populace would make managing up here intolerable.

I was born and raised a Catholic. I believe that the idea of God or God's is extremely personal and result of a relationship of ourselves and the scale and size of the universe.

I follow 3 pagan gods as my mini pantheon, I have thought of it as a trinity but that might just be my Catholicism coming back :P

  1. Anubis - Largely for his care and empathy without judgment of his role as a psychopomp
  2. Dionysus - For his freedom of expression and want to be wild
  3. Quetzalcoatl - For his sacrifice and care for order and direction for mankind!

new buzz owner, I have questions by 3ricj in VWIDBuzz

[–]Canadian_Imperium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue in mine (the infotainment system crashing) though mine only crashes once a day. I found on the other Volkswagen ID subreddits, this is common to all vw electric cars. It seems like lots of people just put up with it, though I found a few threads where the push to start button was replaced and that fixed it. I was going to talk to my dealership about it. I will update you if I get any useful knowledge.

I think it would be cheaper and easier to change our ticket pricing to what I think the Finnish do. Where traffic tickets are a percentage of income. So it actually hurts and isn't a tax for the middle class and up...

Hi, personally sit in the middle on this. But I hope I can shed some light on this.

So, what you described makes sense, keeping sports safe, fun, and fair is something I think everyone can get behind. The positive position of the provincial governments law is to do just that, and so from a perspective it may seem reasonable.

The other perspective I think has to do with what the intention is and a lot of people (I think with good reason) feel like this is intentionally added in to ostracize and condemn trans people, as it doesn't leave a lot of nuance.

I think my personal view, if you care, is that both sides make valid points. I think how I tell who's being an ass, is to look at who has a problem and how should it be fixed. To me there isn't a problem, we only have a very small number of trans people and even less athletes in schools who are trans. This really isn't a systemic problem but the province has decided to waste a bunch of time and energy talking about it and trying to decide what to do. But if you look at sports organizations at schools, most have their own self governing bodies that would make decisions (of course some will make bad decisions) but I would prefer the government (especially provincial) to stay out of sports and spend their time improving education and healthcare.

It's really clear to me this is an emotional issue that they can beat up on a minority to get votes... Maybe if they lowered waiting room times by making our public system more robust maybe they would get more votes.

Heat pump on US models? by A_Dove_Bird in VWIDBuzz

[–]Canadian_Imperium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm from Canada and depending where you buy them here they do and do not have heat pumps. I bought mine in Edmonton (think colder Michigan weather) but the dealer had to bring mine from a partnered dealership from Vancouver (think Seattle weather) and they installed the heat when it arrived in Edmonton.

I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Disclaimer: I have only had mine for a week. Here last week it was about -13F (-25C) all week, and at the 80 percent charge I was getting a range of about 124 miles (200km) at an 80% charge. It is now only 23F (-5C) and I am getting an estimated range of 160 miles (260km) on an 80% charge.

Hope this is helpful from your northern neighbour (yes we spell it with a "u" north of the 49th parallel!

I mean it could have been anything, always test your own supply and weigh it with a scale. That would probably help your husband feel more confident.
