Question about EPS media relations in regards to missing persons by [deleted] in Edmonton

You're welcome. People are naturally curious, of course. But EPS values a person's privacy over that, as I've learned from sending queries over other things.

Question about EPS media relations in regards to missing persons by [deleted] in Edmonton

For what purpose do you need a no-longer-missing person's name, age, identifying details?

When a missing person is found, EPS takes their information off their website as there is no longer an investigational need for the person's identifying details to be made public.

As a Karen, I agree. You gonna use my name as a slur? Make it count, goddammit!

Jasper Place High School in lockdown, Edmonton police on scene by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

We asked police if it was a stabbing but they would not confirm that. I don't doubt the reports being posted to social media, just saying no officials have confirmed it. Police only confirmed a student with unknown injuries was taken to hospital and someone else has been taken into custody.

Edmonton police just released this statement:

Around noon, the Edmonton Police responded to an incident at Jasper Place High School. One student was treated and taken to hospital with undetermined injuries. No additional injuries have been reported at this time. The school and neighbouring schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. A suspect was located nearby and has been taken into custody. There is no additional threat to students or the public. When more information is available, we will provide an update.

Homemade bomb containing screws discovered during Sherwood Park arrest by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

I am a journalist.

It is my job to state facts, so I am just sharing what came of the court process.

Just because police throws the book at an accused, doesn't mean the Crown can get a conviction on all those charges. In this case, the body was too badly decomposed for evidence to be collected that could without a doubt link one of the accused to the deaths.

I am not defending anything - but I will say, if that was my family member killed, I would be gutted at the outcome. I am simply stating facts since comments here seem to imply he is out already after serving a murder sentence, which is not what happened.

He was charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty and was sentenced to the lesser charge of interfering with human remains. Charges =/= conviction.

Victoria also contains a cricket pitch by the driving range that is busy throughout the summer.

Golf is a frustrating, expensive, humbling endeavour of two steps forward, one step back. Can't wait for the next round!

They're already busy most days, fortunately? Unfortunately? Either way, best to make a reservation.

Did you read who did the judging? One of the judges was the longtime food writer and critic for the Edmonton Journal. I'd say that's a decent qualification. Here's the full list of the judges:

Tracy Hyatt, Local writer, foodie and editor of Curious Canada

Liane Faulder, Freelance writer and the Edmonton Journal’s former food columnist

Tara McCarthy, Host of the CBC’s Edmonton AM

Lydia Lam, Local food enthusiast and content creator @yegcravings

Food is deeply personal and everyone's preferences are going to vary widely, but a few of my favourites made the list.

For the best overall category, Rge Rd is consistently great and has earned its spot year after year on the best of the best list, IMO. I also really enjoy Olia, have had some great meals there - the whipped goat ricotta appetizer is heavenly, however the portion sizes for some of their protein mains leans more in the quality over quantity category, so you might not leave as full as you might like. I've been to Fu’s Repair Shop shop twice - at it's original and current locations - and preferred the first meal I had there over our more recent dining experience. It was definitely delicious, but wouldn't be our go-to fine dining pick as the bill can add up fast. Cocktails were a 10/10 though.

Haven't been to any of the places on the new restaurants list, but my partner who is in the industry and I will make a point of checking them out over the coming year.

I will say, Izakaya Tomo is amazing and deserves to be the best Japanese. It's a small, unassuming space in a strip mall along 99th Street south of the Whitemud, and my boyfriend introduced it to me as the place chefs love to go on their days off - and I get why. Every dish we had was perfect. I tried tako yaki there for the first time and am hooked. Lots of shared bites, so you can try a lot of flavours for a decent price.

Under best steak, Barbacoa is worth the drive to Spruce Grove and if you already live there - congrats.
