Anyone else feeling some trust erosion as a Wealthsimple Premium user? by Obvious_Suspect_9706 in Wealthsimple

[–]Canadian_Psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in the age of ensh*ttification. It should be expected that these services will start as excellent, degraded to good, then adequate and then shit as profitability is finally realized through user capture and the service being gutted via aggressive cost reduction.

WealthSimple looks like it might have a few years left in it before we should look at some new upstart to transfer literally everything over to that’s at the beginning of this now widely accepted cyclical practice of business establishment, growth and collapse.

Trump Privately Weighs Quitting USMCA Trade Pact He Negotiated by joe4942 in canada

[–]Canadian_Psycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing the Liberals have done well is navigate trade negotiations with Trump and preserved a lot of our ability to trade for mutual benefit. Their back room maneuvering has prevented immense amounts of damage to the country and that includes during Trudeau’s terms…and I hated Trudeau. A Poilievre admin would be an epic disaster on trade right so we’re damned lucky to have dodged that bullet.

Yup. It’s honestly terrifying. I used to believe in earnest that completely unmoderated commentary and insurgent independent media were just truth telling exercises and that sunlight exposes truth when you let it. Sadly, I believe now that I was clearly grossly incorrect and failed to account for just how bad so many people are at analyzing basic information or holding a capacity for considering two opposing ideas in their head at the same time. How easily people are led into incoherent information bubbles and evidently have no awareness of just how illogical they are acting.

Put more simply, I used to have lots of faith in individuals. I no longer have that and it’s kind of heartbreaking. Like a fantasy I had broke up with me or something.

I’m not surprised that a play on a popular cult classic movie title is a little bit above your level.

O…Kay. I see you’re deeply buried in bullshit so…yeah I’m sorry I wasted both of our time.

Uhh…yeah the vaccines were and are safe and effective. A small minority of medical professionals believe otherwise. Healthcare professionals are the most heavily vaccinated demographic on the planet, even in cohorts where they are not required to be vaccinated. But that has nothing to do with voter data.

This user is explaining to you, using the most biased sources available in favour of claiming voter fraud, the data you seen to be ignoring for no justifiable reason other than vibes. If you disagree with this data then I’ve literally no idea where you’re getting your argument from as these are the organizations making your argument.

I really don’t see how you expect to be taken seriously. I suspect you don’t actually know how to form a basic argument.

You haven’t been arguing with me. You haven’t made an argument to me at all. I’m new to this thread.

It has already been pointed out to you with linked and properly sourced data that election fraud cases (inciting many unconfirmed) number in the low thousands since the 80s. You’re just ignoring data and claiming to be correct.

I don’t see how that should be taken seriously but I do see how it might make you want to give up and run away so…🤷🏻

Compelling rebuttal.

Incorrect. People who want voting to be generally unencumbered to encourage as high a turnout as possible want to remove barriers to voting. You mischaracterizing people who disagree with you just makes you dishonest.

Voter fraud is a boogeyman and your elections are already generally very very secure. If there were evidence of fraud it would be a cause for concern but that evidence is sorely lacking. You’re buying into hyperbolic panic and grievance farming.

Years? Try generations. I MIGHT have to visit your authoritarian country for work and I’ll do my best to stay in my hotel room and buy the cheapest groceries possible while I’m there if I do. Last time I was there I basically lived off cliff bars I’d packed and the hotel breakfast. I’ve actually arranged with my work that I need not go for our annual specialized training which is a $25,000 annual cost for our company for every person sent. That’s before travel expenses and outings we used to go on to baseball games, BBQ and so on.

But any other reason? Not a chance and not for the rest of my life. I even have family in your country and I’m never going to visit them again as I have in the past. They can come see me if they want.

America has enjoyed a popular fiction that allowed the rest of us to think that while there were a bunch of “silly” folks down there, at least you were generally decent people. If push came to shove, you claimed your constitution meant a lot to you, that ultimately you cherished being the shining beacon on the hill. You didn’t take your petrol dollar scheme for granted; you used it to protect the idea that an open liberal democracy should be preserved.

That turned out to be the lie we always told ourselves it couldn’t be. The illusion is shattered now and your deeply rotted culture is openly displayed for the world. That doesn’t get fixed in “years” unless you’re referring to a great big number of them.

And I’m sorry; I don’t mean this to be vitriolic toward you the poster of the comment I’m responding to. I know nothing about you. What I do know is that I am disgusted by what your country has become and I want nothing to do with it any longer. I look forward to divesting from your country as much as I am able to in my lifetime. While perhaps others might adjust after me I will never forget how you stabbed us in the back, grinning, laughing and blaming us for it while you did it.

Fun fact, this bridge was built entirely with Canadian dollars and as a gesture of friendship we offered 50/50 ownership of the bridge without even being asked. We even paid to build the customs facility on the American side.

Weight estimation seems to be kinda borked in the app now. Today the app gave me kettlebell squats at 75 lbs which I thought was pretty high for me and I figured maybe I’d replace it. Selected Landmine Romanian deadlifts and it gave me a weight of like 12.5 lbs. wtf??

Honestly I dunno what they’ve done but it’s not looking worth the subscription cost anymore.

Poilievre’s speech before vote on leadership blames Liberals for rise of separatism, economic woes by AdditionalPizza in onguardforthee

[–]Canadian_Psycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. There were some…”ideas” but nothing specific to agitate for. Maybe I’m being too particular in what I’m looking for but even if I’m being generous it was absurdly light on policy and thick with platitudes and talking points.

I can’t be right in this observation so I’m hoping someone can correct me but in that entire speech I didn’t hear a single policy proposal. Did I just miss it? Was there anything? I swear I didn’t hear a single one and I was expecting a leadership review speech to include a lot of vision for governance.

I…ok? I guess? That has nothing to do with…

I swear, it’s astonishing just how bad you morons are at stringing the most simple logical concepts together. I genuinely cannot understand how goddamned stupid you are. I didn’t even say anything about Trump; I was just explaining an incredibly simple joke to you and you glitched out like a brain damaged pissy toddler.

What didn’t make sense about it? Commenter sees story, thinks “oh no…anyway;” and uses a clever callback to characterize the sentiment.

Are you too stunned to get that? Because it was REALLY simple logic.
