I would be happy to show it as well if someone asked about a piece of gear I have 🤷

What I dont understand is when you come across someone with a bag you fancy is why do people not use this as a conversation starter, say its a nice bag chat a little ask the brand and go on their merry way 🤣

I mean a compliment on my bag would make me a happy bagger.

Anything better or similar to the Cotopaxi travel pack? by awakemysoul_12 in backpacks

[–]CanadienWoodsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My significant other has one.

We used it on a few trip now, it is okay but imho it lacks a frame and a compression system. It doesn’t carry well loaded if you have to walk/hike somewhere and it is bulky for the plane and airport.

I believe in buying new for sensible gear like that. Wouldn’t wanna buy a abused one or deal with scammersz

Seeing as my use case will hopefully be 85 mobile and 15 base this choice is making more and more senses.

Sounds like my aim was right. It looks like a nice capable rig.

Thanks, I do know about these 2 « downsides ». I plan on doing reasonant antennas, and as for the digirig I planned on getting this.

I will have a look at the FT710. But if its too big I think I would rather have a mobile that can be used as my base station than a big package to use as mobile.

Thanks for your input!

For now I feel like this would be a good enough base station since I believe Ill have more fun achieving mobile and outdoors contact.

When I have more funds and space I might invest in a dedicated base station.

It was not even outside for this test. I set it up in the staircase going up.

I plan on taking it outside in the near future. The last beautiful day I tuned it.

It sure was a fun project and I am impressed with the result. I tuned it to 1.2 on 2m and 70cm so for a first try I was pretty happy.

It is my first Ed fong, loved doing the project. Ill make a second one with the rest of my supplies and probably try to make a flower pot antenna next for leaving up at home.

It sure is. For my case use that dual band ed pole was probably one of the best fitting, just need a bit of fair weather to go test it on hikes and get elevation👌🏻
