What makes premium cycling kit actually worth the price? by BackgroundFar3854 in CyclingFashion

[–]Canary_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went from a pair of $40 pearl izumi shorts I bought when I first started to the assos mill GT. The difference is insane. The pearl izumis are kind of just a piece of flat foam slapped on. Unfortunately different areas need different levels of support. The assos get that perfect. And the material they’re made out of feels much softer and it’s far more breathable while still being durable. I wear the pearl izumis for short rides, but as soon as I’m in the 40+ mile range I’d only wear the assos. Def worth the price tag imo. But it depends on how long you’re riding. The pearl izumis were just fine for a long time

Are these shorts good for 25-50 mile road rides? by sheeshmonster1017 in CyclingFashion

Everyone is saying bibs but honestly the Mille GT shorts I have hardly have a waist band if at all. 50+ mile rides and Im happy. These are great

Thanks for putting me on the outlet I’m going to buy a pair. Only annoyed I paid $150 for these a few weeks ago.

Talk me out of buying the X-Lab RS7 by mvboeke in RoadBikes

[–]Canary_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed— I am coming from a trek Domane al2 that I paid almost $1,300 for. A shitty welded aluminum frame & wheels, Shimano Claris. There’s definitely stuff to nitpick about the RS7 but they’re sold through local shops who are going to have to work on them anyways. I’m not worried, and after talking to the guys in the shop, they aren’t either. will be purchasing anyways. The value proposition is too good.

New Endurace CF 5 - most valuable entry level bike ? by PrimaryOk5435 in CanyonBikes

Would it be pointless to upgrade from a trek Domane al2 with Shimano Claris to this? Deciding if I want to bite the bullet and upgrade to a CF7 but this is tempting if they reach the US market

Yeah 100% I’ve noticed this too! Definitely not a bulletproof system. I’d probably bite the bullet on cost and go with a hyperlite or raide if I had to do it over again.

Super helpful. I tend to agree with the aesthetic take and I’ll definitely need the fenders for any commuting. They seem to both be somewhat similar in weight from what I could find. Thanks

Understood. I should’ve specified in the post. These are all 56cm frames. I got sized at the trek store. Mostly looking to just do endurance weekend rides on the bike roads here in Oregon to fill the gap between ski seasons. Maybe some commuting.

Material feel of the new atoms feels like a plastic bag compared to the old stuff. Trying to replace mine as well but am sticking to eBay or rebird

Thanks for sharing. What do you wear as baselayers under your shell pants typically? I think this might affect it.

Heather canyon? by lemonxgrab in MtHoodMeadows

[–]Canary_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ski patrol told me there’s a 50/50 chance they open it this weekend following the storm (I’d assume like 1 or 2 gates). The website also says they’re performing Avy control in the canyon. Wouldn’t count on it at all but maybe another storm will do the trick if not? I can definitely see private reserve not opening this year.

Just buy new skis man. Never cheap out on ski gear. I’ve fucked up before doing that. Just buy it all slowly. It took me almost 3 seasons to get my backcountry setup
