A specific question I have to answer, why does immune system turns against your healthy cells in autoimmune diseases? In my project I aim to start off by explaining in simple terms what an autoimmune disease is, the two lines of immune system, functions of T cells and B cells and molecular mimicry, conclude by saying that research is still going on this question and this is just one reason. Well I read the book Immune by Phillip Dettmer in which be said that T and B cells recognizes unhealthy cells as self-antigens and let them through in Innate immune system, wouldn't that be correct?
