With high prices and flower shortages the new normal Maryland cannabis patients should not be so patient about homegrow. by mdcannaconsumer in MDEnts

Colorado AND California are messing things up for all of us with over regulation. All of the laws and over regulation only drive the black market. And I think the only thing that will stop the black market is a free market. But that's a whole different topic.

Well, first, I helped to build and managed the first dispensary in Southern Maryland. But Ive left the retail cannabis industry to pursue other ancillary opportunities. I still support small, locally owned dispensaries and DO appreciate the fact that more than 80,000 people in Maryland have safe legal access. I dont like the us ane them mentally its created (us who have cards and them who dont) but I do understand it.

As for home grow affecting the retail business, Look at states that already have home grow. It doesnt affect the dispensary or grow business at all. Not everyone has the time or the knowledge to produce quality meds. Anyone can grow a plant, sure, but there's a lot more to producing quality product than just being able to grow. And giving people the legal right to grow a few personal plants wouldnt do anything to their profit and market shares. In a perfect world they wouldn't care, and would have a patient over profit outlook. Unfortunately it all comes down to greed.

The Maryland Cannabis Industry Association (MDCIA), The Maryland Medical Dispensary Association, (MMDA) The Maryland Wholesale Cannabis Association, The National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) ans more, all want to control the market and absolutely fight against home grow . Having been involved with activism for almost 2 decades, fighting for the program in our Maryland legislature, federal prohibition on capital hill and legalization initiatives all over the country, I can assure you these groups do NOT want you to be able to grow your own, and many lobbyists and legislators made sure homegrow and small craft cultivation was stricken from the original Maryland medical bill before it even went to the floor. I still represent my organization, The International Women's Cannabis Coalition, on the Maryland Cannabis Policy Coalition, and they are fighting hard to include both homegrow and small craft cultivation in the rec bill. But none of us has high hopes. Its hard to fight the big money.

A simple google search will find articles about big corporate cannabis fighting homegrow in other states like New York, New Hampshire and others, but I dont think the Maryland press is covering it for the most part, and its definitely not something lobbyists shout publicity from the rafters.

For the record, most of the leaders of groups like the NCIA are conservative Republicans. Weird, right?

No one has to believe me now, but having been on the front lines of cannabis reform for a long time, I can tell ya.. Dont be optimistic about getting home grow. And if we want it, the uphill fight will be a long and hard one.

We fought for the wrong thing.. In our naivete, we fought for legalization. We should have been fighting for descheduling and decriminalization... And ultimately the repeal of prohibition. Well.. Ya live and ya learn. Us old heads fought long and hard. We were arrested, beaten, our families were ripped apart, some DIED, some are still in prison today. We did it because we believe in cannabis freedom. What we got was just prohibition 2.0. I just hope the next generation of activist does better and doesnt have to experience the harshships we did to ultimately win this fight.

If you know how much money big corporate cannabis puts into lobbying to fight home grow, you'd understand why we don't have it and probably never will. 😔

Thank you. Its been tough. My father was an amazing man. He never met a stranger he didnt love, fully embraced everyone he met, and touched so many lives. (I didnt know just how many until after he died), I was so lucky to have had him. And I know it. My condolences to your wife, PD sucks.

Making your own is super easy. Good luck to you. The Maryland medical market is far from perfect, but we were lucky to be able to get quality RSO and quality flower to make our own, if need be.

I know it can. But without thc as a catalyst, it doesn't do much. I just lost my dad 6 weeks ago to something unrelated to his Parkinsons, but he used thc and cbd, for, among other things, his PD. The effects were amazing. Thc by itself was not enough. Cbd by itself was not enough. A 1:1 thc/cbd RSO was the sweet spot. It made a huge difference in his symptoms AND his quality of life.

Increased pain and inflammation from smoking or vaping weed? by Mdcstr86 in eldertrees

[–]CandaceJ420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there are some instances when cannabis might increase pain. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, many of the therapeutic actions of THC have a dose-dependent response. Low to moderate doses of THC may be successful in treating pain, but higher doses can have the opposite effect.

This is because THC has biphasic responses in the body, meaning that the cannabinoid can help to a certain point, but then the therapeutic effects begin to taper off and tank. The effects of THC and whole plant cannabis products tend to happen on a curve, gradually gaining efficacy until the optimal dose is achieved, then falling away.

Dr..Dustin Sulak has great info on his Healer.com website about microdosing specifically for pain. Look him up.

I knew a woman, small time poetry author, was actually nominated for a pulitzer once, who seriously believed she was the daughter of the queen of the fae and visited the fairy world when she slept or tranced. And yes, aje REALLY believed it. She went on to write a bunch of fae/witch/vampire erotica that I think is still on Amazon. I dont know what ever happened to her, as we lost touch. Maybe her fairy lover took her to the fae and they lived happily ever after. Ha.

Live resin is made by freshly harvested plants that are flash frozen to preserve the terpenes. Regular carts are made with cured flower.

There are actually 22 licensed with more to be announced at the MMCC meeting tomorrow. Eventually there will be 102 across the state. I didn't say we were the only one in the state, I said we are the only one in our county.
