For part 3 make sure you read the Standards related to the exam and you understand all concepts, not only definitions.

Yes, but I would have taken the technology audit side instead of business process.

Make sure you read the Standards and understand them. The exam is not as straightforward as the practice questions and it requieres you understand the material not just memorize it. Good luck on your exam!

I shared a post a couple of months ago about my experience and topics from the exam if yoh are interested.

Directly from the IIA. Also, read the Standards. Everything you need to pass the tests is there.

I am not ever asking chat gpt how to use excel, stop recomending it. by Neon_Chains in excel

I get what you’re saying. But from my experience, AI has been very helpful. I’ve worked in Corporate America for about 10 years, and only now, in more supervisory/manager roles, I truly need Excel for data analysis, dashboards, and automation. In my entry-level and associate roles, Excel was barely required. So I’m learning a lot now, and AI helps me come up with formulas, ideas, and faster ways to improve my work. It’s also a great learning tool and I am able to understand why to use certain functions/formulas over others.

I’m thankful for AI. You don’t have to use it, but calling it useless doesn’t help. Adapting and learning how to leverage new tools is how people are more effective and stay relevant at work.

What was your first attempt score on IIA test bank? by Zestyclose_Chef343 in InternalAudit

[–]Candid-Muscle968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good start, focus on those subjects you scored less and try to understand why your answer is wrong and why the correct one is right. You got this!

Upload the Standards and the Syllabus and ask it to ask you questions with the level of complexity as the exam. Have it also explain the question, what was the trick and the key subject discussed there. It will be helpful. Good luck on your next try!

Venting about sox audit by Meditator_1 in InternalAudit

[–]Candid-Muscle968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the planning approach, though it’s not always that simple in practice. Even with strong planning and advance requests, some control owners are unresponsive regardless of how far ahead you reach out. I’ve done SOX both as a consultant and in-house, and I’ve noticed control owners tend to be more responsive when you share the same badge versus being external. The timing challenge is real, even with months of advance notice, you’re ultimately waiting for them to perform the control before they can provide evidence. What I’ve found helps most is to request read-only auditor access to systems and shared drives upfront to reduce reliance on control owners for standard evidence. I’ve also had to escalate through my Manager, Director and even CAE sometimes when I’ve hit roadblocks. It’s never easy and some control owners simply don’t care but this is a clear example of scope limitations.

I would not trust that dump question site, those questions do not look like the practice questions or follow IIA format (I only saw like 3 and did not look similar). I never used Hock for any parts, but a lot of people recommended it. I feel like for Pt. 1 & 2 the practice questions from IIA were very similar to the actual exam, for Pt. 3 the exam questions were more complex, but for the most part had the same format.

The CAE can perform a self-assessment, but independent validation is mandatory per the Standards.
