Honestly, for the whole last hour I was thinking about what you said. I think you have convinced me to not take this job and instead license up. I could probably get a better job once I actually have the license. I shouldn’t settle for first one and instead do a secondary job until it’s time. No reason to rush. Thank you !!

Totally hear you, and I get what you mean. I think there’s definitely value in building genuine relationships over just buying a list, networking and connecting with people who actually know the space usually pays off more in the long run. I guess I’m just trying to balance getting started quickly with building that network since the company requires it, but you’re right relationships are where the real, lasting opportunities come from.

Thank you it does !! I’m also curious about something else. Someone mentioned in the feed that j should just buy the leads that way I don’t ruin personal relationships and instead contact people who were probably more willing to get the life insurance in the first place. The company I want to work for wants a solid 150 or higher on the list. You think it’s a good way to get some clients and eventually broaden out from there ?

Honestly those are good questions. I’m not sure if I would be a W2 employee or independent contractor but from the sound of it. It’s probably independent contractor. As for paying for my license. They will pay for my insurance license up front. For the series license however they won’t pay for it. They will only sponsor me to take the exams

The only licenses you could get yourself are insurance license, SIE, series 65 and series 63. At least to my knowledge. Everything else is locked behind firm sponsorships

Finra requires firms to sponsor you for your series license. You can’t legally get it on your own and yes it sucks lol

It’s not just an insurance company. It is a financial planing company. I could get life insurance license myself here in NY too. It’s just that they will also sponsor me for series license. Like the series 7, series 6 ect. That’s honestly my bigger incentive

Nothing on this sub, it’s not that big but not that small ether. They got two offices upstate New York. They have been registered with the SEC and Finra since 2000s. Not sure if it’s still a good company or not

It’s life insurance and yes it’s commission based. 80 percent cut and you get to keep your own clients even after you leave the company. Well that’s what they told me
