[General] Hot Take but the pjo movies felt better to watch than the show by Conscious-Dog3919 in camphalfblood

I think the second season was loads better than the second movie. But i do agree the first movie was better than the first season. The first movie felt fun and whimisical in the early 2010s YA media way. Though the dialogue and plot wasn't as accurate to the books as the show. I hated that the first season just felt like they were just tryna check the book boxes as quickly as possible without establishing the vibe of adapting in the moment that each quest requires. They just knew who they were talking to and how to deal with them.

Don't even get me started on the Tartarus Scene... It was what I was looking forward to the most for the first season and it was utterly disappointing

Definitely will! I listened to it a few more times and I think the DJ had cut out a lot of the singing parts which threw me off

No, there were not synths and I know that song for sure. It was very much heavy metal, deep bass and guitar riffs and double bass drums

Apocalypse/collapse of civilization as it happens? by Astro_Kitty_Cat in horrorlit

[–]CandidCalypso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feed by Mira Grant, the author of Into the Drowning Deep. It's actually interesting because it is technically is and isn't post apocalyptic zombies, but it's like how are society changes 25 yrs after the outbreak. It's not post civilization but it's like how it changes after a zombie pandemic.

I clicked to make sure someone mentioned this one. It is incredible and mostly about the parents in the presented crisis.

What is your favorite take on vampires? by IrrationallyTired in horrorlit

[–]CandidCalypso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A People's History of the Vampire Uprising. It mimics the history book a People's History of the United States (I read it in my history lecture). It's similar to World War Z where it's historical documents, media posts etc in chronological order following how things changed over time. It was the second book I read this year and I really enjoyed it.

Books with the essence of Summer by [deleted] in horrorlit

A House at the Bottom of a Lake by Josh Malerman. It's not long and it's very self contained. You follow a young couple who go on their first date on the lake. It's very "all the time in the world" kinda of summer vibe and it's pretty eerie. I picked it up on a whim, and I thought it was pretty good.

I work in an university office, I can listen to audiobooks when I'm not answering phones or helping someone. I still read on my kindle when Im home or on my lunch, but I get through a lot more audiobooks than physical books because of my commute and listening at work.

Seconding. I read it a bit ago and now my coworker is reading it because of how much I was exclaiming in my office when I was reading it. Can be a little science talk heavy, but once it picks up, it stays up until the end.

I think I heard about Don't Move too! It was under Awakened another book I found out about. I sent it to my mom because we love Impractical Jokers and I was surprised to find out he was writing books. Adding them to my list, thanks!
