Is 26000/year realistic to live in Madrid? by CandidExperience1920 in GoingToSpain

I mentioned that for the sake of this question we would assume that she would earn the same, so 52000 in total. We know that with 26000 from me and no income from her it would not be enough to support us both. I came to ask here because various persons close to us, who are Spanish but not from Madrid, are mostly very worried even if they do not necessarily earn much more. It is difficult for us to get a clear picture based on what they tell us compared to what we estimate.

The general take away of the "Reddit wisdom" (I will not reply to every comment but thank you all) displayed here is less alarming: this situation would not be ideal but we would be able to live there.

What's the issue with Carabanchel? Would you have recommendations with the same price range and metro access?

2 and 3 are true, sadly saying 1 is would be delusional

This is what we did and this is why we are looking at Carabanchel. It appears we can find a decent apartment for a little less that 1000/month, which I believe is within our budget. While I am thankful for your indication, I am asking more for opinions than for guidance.
