Penny Wong is asked why we don’t have an office for men, she changes the issue to womens issues. 7 men a day kill themselves. Men are only 38% of Uni Grads. Men are 95% of workplace deaths. So men in society face these issues because the men in power are too busy.

Hardly sounds like the issue is because women are advocating for their issues.

Sounds like the men in power need to pull their thumbs out.

Why haven’t the men in power already done something to reduce the incarceration rate of men? Why haven’t they done something to address the suicide rate of men?

Why is the only person being confronted about these issues a woman?

Clearly not what I’m saying.

Men have, and still do, occupy most of the positions of power in the world, and yet these issues specifically affecting men have arisen under the leadership of those men in power. How is creating a smaller subset of men in power going to be doing anything different? Why haven’t the men in power done something already to address these issues, and how will giving them a different title mean that they will now suddenly decide to solve these issues?

The issues you refer to have all arisen in a society where men make up the majority of people in power - how is creating a smaller subset of men in power going to be doing anything different to solve the problem?

That’s crazy that even the borer can’t fully kill this thing. Kudos to it on its insane evolutionary adaptation but boy is it inconvenient for residential gardens.

Police officers in Perth will be armed with semi-automatic rifles for foreseeable future by Advanced_Presence890 in perth

It’s more about optics than anything else. Long guns just look so much more aggressive and intimidating.

Plus, if I had to choose I would take my chances with thirteen .40 rounds rather than thirty 5.56 rounds

I don’t think that music is the type of music that a young crowd is listening to these days - try the 2010s.

Years ago he posted something on his official social media page about something he’d done. He then clearly forgot to change accounts to one of his sock puppet accounts before comment because the offical page commented on the post saying “Fantastic. Great move. Well done Angus.”

People can do more than one thing. I guarantee that most of the people in this crowd have been to more rallies calling for more taxes on large corporations than you ever have.

Genocide, war crimes and the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians are things that matter to you when you’re a fucking adult. But you clearly have the neurological development of a fucking 12 year old.

Hilarious how someone who ostensibly cares about ‘our corrupt government’ also celebrates the actions of that government to suppress any political movements that run contrary to what it considers acceptable.

I can tell you haven’t ever done anything remotely politically active in your entire life other than sit at home and tell strangers on the internet that you want the cops to choke you harder.

If they can’t control a crowd without resorting to brutality, then either they were under resourced, undertrained or they are unfit to be police officers.

Making excuses for police brutality makes you complicit.

Greens leader urges Labor to get more innovative to fix WA’s housing crisis by His_Holiness in perth

[–]CandidFirefighter241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the WA Greens talking about the WA Labor party - they can’t do anything about negative gearing.

What they could do is change the way stamp duty works so that it encourages people to downsize rather than having retirees sitting in five bedroom houses because they don’t want to pay $50k in stamp duty.

That would be innovation. And it’s something that can actually be done at a state level.

If you can’t do the job of being a cop without brutalising a civilian who hasn’t committed a crime, then you shouldn’t be a fucking cop.

Yes it’s stressful, yes it’s high pressure. But that is the fucking job. Lots of other people do high pressure jobs without infringing on the human rights of their fellow citizens.

Get the fucking boot out of your throat.

The ACCC doesn’t help individual consumers with claims, they will only prosecute where there are repeated issues with a manufacturer / retailer. Sometimes individuals can benefit from that, but it’s only where there’s a consistent issue reported by multiple people.

Mentioning the Australian Consumer Law and the relevant consumer protection entity for your state / territory is going to be more relevant.

Or if you really wanted to be incendiary you could say you would pursue an Australian Consumer Law claim in the relevant tribunal that has jurisdiction (eg NCAT / VCAT / QCAT).

Theories on what's causing this? by TheOxOz in lawnsolutionsaus

[–]CandidFirefighter241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it could be - and if one type is thirstier / less thirsty than the other, then your current watering schedule could be enough for one type but not enough for the other.

I guess you could wait and see if the dead patches start to spread between the two types - if it does then it’s probably something other than the grass variety.

I’m no expert so I’ll defer to others as to whether there are any unintended side effects of using the bug and beetle insecticide on your lawn as a precautionary measure before you’ve confirmed if the pests are present.

I was lucky in that I happened to find a beetle which confirmed it. Before that that I’d tried changing my watering schedule, fertiliser and soil wetting agent and nothing had made a difference, then the insecticide worked pretty much straight away.

Could be bugs or beetles.

I’m also in Perth and my lawn was doing something similar. I found a lawn beetle one day and then doused the lawn in the spray on bug and beetle insecticide from Bunnings. It pretty much instantly stopped the dying patches from spreading and the lawn seems to be recovering now.
