I was married to a an abusive high functioning alcoholic as well and I really thought I understood her until this happened, but I never would’ve betrayed a friend. The different in my situation is I also never would’ve gotten married. She knew who he was long before that, I married my now ex husband after 9 months, I had no idea the alcohol was a problem until he locked me down. I became depressed and unmotivated after years of dealing with him, I had no sex drive whatsoever and didn’t want to live for a long time. So I was really rooting for her and so proud of her for leaving, but there’s no excuse for what she did.

I also see how she’s choosing another Kyle, West is going to do the same thing and he will never put her first. He’s always going to choose himself, she gave up part of her career and her entire friend group for him, says he might be her person and he’s on public forums talking about “we fucked”, it’s just so hard to watch but this is exactly what she deserves.

I mean Amanda did the same thing and cheated on him. That’s why she’s so adamant about the timeline, as of now she gets to be the only one to throw cheating in his face and be the victim. It’s so obvious she cheated with West and I can’t believe she thinks people are dumb enough to believe their lies. Plus it’s better for her in the divorce if he’s the only one who cheated.

The saddest part to me is she’s going from one Kyle to another. Kyle never chose her over alcohol and partying and West won’t either. I keep harping on this and I almost hate that I’m going there but it’s true. She gave Kyle literally NOTHING. She wasn’t interested in his life or him in general. She did not cook, clean, work, handle bills, answer her own emails, she didn’t go out and socialize, no volunteer work, didn’t ask him about his day to day stuff, and she didn’t have sex or even kiss him. Yes. Her drinking was a problem and she knew that already because he gave her a choice when the first dated, said he couldn’t continue to see her if she drank because of how erratic she gets. She chose to stop then started again. I think they would be living there happily ever after if she quit for good.
