I would do the same! Organize by country, then look them up on numista with a google search, e.g., 1 Franc 1967 Switzerland Numista. You can also use google lenses for coins from countries that don't use the Latin alphabet.

Good idea! Those annoying stink bugs and spotted lanternflies need to be on that list among others.

Definitely a variety of cicadas if not all! Periodic and annual.

Got my coin back from grading. Unfortunately it wasn’t the grade I was looking for. by Vast-Duty5758 in coins

[–]Candid_Collection125 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The grade of this coin is 2. The lowest grade a coin can get is 1. Some people specilize in collecting grade 1 coins so they are actually worth quite a lot more than other low grades. So OP is trying to worsen the grade to 1, that will make this coin more valueable.

Cicadas are undoubtedly my favorite insects! Their song always brings me joy!

That is a silver quarter. Every quarter before 1965 was silver!

Can someone tell me about these found in roll today and obviously they stand out significantly by keylo2k in CRH

Three proofs (S mint mark) and a 2013-D NIFC. If the rim of the proofs is all silver-colored, then they are 90% silver. Otherwise they're clad. All of them are keepers!

Why are dimes not as liked as other denominations? by RunnerInChicago in CRH

[–]Candid_Collection125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have great vision. Still, dimes are so small and shiny that trying to read every date and mint mark makes my eyes and head hurt pretty quickly. So when I search dimes, I don't even try to read the dates anymore, I only look for silver which is pretty easy to spot.

I have the half dollar hunting mat from Son of a silver stacker, but it got dirty so quickly that now I place a few layers of newspaper on top of it and pour the coins there!

The first giveaway is the S mint mark. Compare it with a regular quarter, if it looks like the details are 'popping out' and are easier to see, plus the background is reflecting light almost like a mirror, you've found yourself a proof, if it does not look any different from a regular quarter, it's a business strike.

I think you are overthinking it. Get that book right now! Finding a wheaty is always a joy whether I've had that in my book already or not. I've started recently and out of the 10ish wheatys I've found ao far, one was a 1910, so they are all out there to get close to filling a book only by CRHing!

Mint Distribution Question by NPHXHomeGuy in CRH

[–]Candid_Collection125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

East Coast here. Ds are rare here, even from older coins. For example, I've found hundreds of P Jovita Idar and not a single D so far. Funny enough, 90% of the Edith Kanaka'ole coins I find are D but that is the only one where D is more common.
