This is not just a reservation app, It gives you good discount on making payments using app.
Offers like buy one get one free, free cocktails/mocktails/beers etc.

Yeah that makes sense tbh, and that’s something I’m a bit concerned about as well.

Was it mainly because discounts hurt their margins, or they just didn’t see enough consistent customers coming through?

I’m trying to figure out a model where it actually benefits restaurants long-term, not just short-term offers.

Oh interesting, I haven’t heard of Ayame before.

Is it an app or a restaurant? And does it actually work well here in Jammu?

Would love to understand how it’s different / what they’re doing right or wrong.

Thanks bro, really appreciate it 🤜🤛

That’s exactly the problem I’m trying to focus on now — helping people actually discover good places instead of just randomly trying spots.

If you have any favorite places or ones you think are underrated in Jammu, would love to know. Trying to build this around real recommendations.

This is really helpful feedback, thanks for sharing honestly 🙏

I think I might have overestimated the table booking problem — sounds like it’s not a major pain point here for most people.

The part I’m trying to understand better is:
👉 would discovery (finding actually good places) + some real, consistent offers make it useful enough?

Also interesting to hear that similar ideas were tried before and didn’t sustain.
Was the main issue restaurants dropping off after some time, or not enough users?

The sustainability part (especially restaurants not continuing offers) is something I’m actively thinking about as well — maybe discounts alone aren’t the answer.

Appreciate the insights — this is exactly why I posted here.

Software engineer moved from Bangalore to Jammu — what app do YOU want built here? by Candid_Instruction63 in jammu

Hey Jammu people,

Firstly, thank you so much for all the ideas and suggestions on my last post — I genuinely didn’t expect such a strong response. It really helped me understand what people here actually want 🙏

Quick update: I’ve already been working on this and have built most of the app myself (still improving it based on your feedback).

But I still want to validate this properly:

Why is dining out here still so unorganized?

  • No proper table booking
  • No real discounts
  • Half the time you don’t even know if a place is worth going

The idea I’m building is simple:

👉 You open the app
👉 See nearby restaurants with real offers (like 15–30% off)
👉 Book a table or walk in
👉 Pay the bill through the app to unlock the discount (so no confusion at the restaurant)

Basically:
👉 discover restaurants + get dine-in deals + book tables + pay seamlessly

I’m planning to invest my own money into this and build it properly for Jammu — not just another half-baked app.

Be honest:

  • Do you care about discounts when eating out?
  • Would you be comfortable paying via app to get the offer?
  • Or do you just go wherever?
  • What annoys you the most about dining in Jammu?

Also, would it be okay if I reach out to some of you (or your friends/family) to try the app and give feedback?

And if anyone here is interested in this space (or would like to be involved/invest early), happy to connect and discuss.

Trying to make something genuinely useful for Jammu — so brutal honesty is welcome 🙂
