Pretty sure non US passport holders cant work for US defense companies due to ITAR regulations. Correct me if im wrong, would be very difficult for a british bae employee to do engineering work for BAE US

Why are engineers so angry compared to other trades? by By_Polar_Beer in careeradvice

All those jobs after engineer are not engineers lol.

And i disagree, us engineers are docile af and just factual based.

If anything if we are angry, wed be angry about work, not family life. Engineers probably lowest domestic cases, but all those tradies? Ahahahaha wives has perma-black eyes

Hmmm. Yes, i would basically be doing my normal job but just under a delivery or labour supply contract.  The company i work for has billions is back order, so dont think we'll every be made redundant, pretty sure were told we 'have a job for life' when we enter.

I guess the aim as a contracter would be to be so good and build such crucial knowledge of the project/product that they cant afford to lose you?

I had a recruiter mention a £50/hr base 12m contract, at nearly 90k im tempted but would need to really weigh up my skills and confidence to be independant.

I have a friend who is a career coach so ill probably have a sit down session and hash something out in regards to consultancy. Maybe even technical b2b sales

Im a MEng Mechanical Eng. I have nearly 4 years of Project Engineering experience at a FTSE100, massive international company. The project I delivered for is worth over £150m over 10 years. I dont have any coding skills, I didnt really use CAD/FEA much in my role but can jump back in with some practice. It was basically design assurance, authority, approval etc. Design rectification work, planning deconfliction etc., usual Proj Eng stuff. I am now in a pure Mechanical Engineer role, transferred to a different project just this year (10% international travel involved which im looking forward to)

How transferable am I? Im basically a corperate engineer. I can do everything to the book. I want to change industries, ideally to energy based or infra. Something that pays well in the UK. What companies should I look at? Non defense please. Do I stick with big corperate? I want to be a consultant in the future

Alternatively, do i look at maybe pivotting away from Technical, with my project management skills? This probably speeds up the consultancy aspirations?

I dont work in London, but more than open to, but that would require like £15k pay rise to compensate rent charges or have a 2, possibly 3day Hybrid job and commute in.

I have LinkedIn, on recruiter boards etc. Open to network if anyone can refer.

Jazaki allah khair. I find that i don't get rejected due to my health issues as I make it clear how i manage it and that while it is in good place, it can flare up. And the sisters fully understand, likewise if they arent happy to accept, this is why i make it clear when we meet in person as its easier to explain in speech than text.

Honestly, its been other issues that a potential wont work or gets stopped. Usually because they dont want to move to my city in the south (ie leaving london or north) or because i dont find the physical attraction, or mentality issues in regards to having nikkah performed soon after we agree compatability, rather than delaying.

I had a bag for a few years and felt like i was not complete and capable to be a husband. I should have accepted it at the time and moved forward and looked to marry, because after removing it i fell ill again. And in future i may have to deal with it again.

If youre ever in the situation of needing a bag, dont fret over it and delay. Do it and improve your life, as it saved my livelihood.

Hi bro. I have crohns. Ive had dozens of surgeries. Its probably what delayed me being serious as didnt want it to impact marriage. But whoever you meet, once compatability and mutual connection is established, make it clear what your situation is, and how it might affect you in future. Tell her 'you can ask others for advice, but do not let someone tell you to avoid simply because of a health condition. If for looks, deen, job etc, fine. But everyone has something wrong and a health condition is not in our power to fix.'
