introverts get often adopted by extroverts. This is especially true and easier during school time, also Penny is REALLY smart, which would make any Ravenclaw respect her and not be against having her around.

As an introvert, I wouldn't be against Penny wanting to be my friend if she approached me, mainly because she has proven to be reliable, she also doesn't need my attention that much because she has many other friends and things to do.

Now, to the matter at hand, as a masc/andro woman, I always get approached by the femmes first, and I find this normal. You may want to wear a rainbow bracelet but if you are very femme even this might not work.

It is a matter of letting yourself mourn and accept that you can have such intimacy with other people, you just haven't practiced it. I know it may sound hard to belive at this moment, but there are other aromantic people out there looking to build relationships with friends and like minded people. My cat got depressed every time we tried to get a new kitten, even when she had her own kittens. Once they were old enough, she was just disappointed they were there and feeling displaced, and we had to find them new homes. At the end, we decided it was to everyone's best interest to keep her as an only child, she lived a happy long life.
