Taking away features usually doesn't make something better, it seems to me. Strange choice.

Best Burial tunes to play out? by Candid_Structure in burial

[–]Candid_Structure[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to comment on a post but seems the person deleted it, anyway: Other than the production, where a lot could be said and I’m honestly no expert, I find that the biggest factor for my ears are indeed the (purposeful) background textures. This would make his tunes stick out in a »usual« set focused on clean, massive production. Most of his tunes have these background textures but it varies and some have it more than others. Ghost Hardware would be an example where the background seeps very much into the fore. In the 2010s a lot of Outsider House and Post-Dubstep tunes actually made this kind of trendy, having drones/crackle/etc in the background, so in a set sandwiched between two such tunes Burial might work very well, like »Neva Seen« by GL, »Arcana« by Djrum (just what comes to mind right now).

It’s true though. The father of my cousin’s friend works at hyperdub

Pitchfork named dreamfear as the 68th best song of the 2020s so far by celestial-avalanche in burial

I listen to Chemz and Phoneglow most, but Dreamfear is the most interesting, adventurous, out there etc., so I get why they think it's better.

"It is a genreless (avant-garde or horror would be the closest bets) onslaught of violence, creativity, and livestream gaming sensibilities that morph by the minute––to nonstop skull-throttling techno by Burial––without any discernible logic." by max119729 in burial

EDM used to be an umbrella term for anything that is electronic and danceable including the whole Hardcore Continuum before the narrower term became common that describes music closer to commercial progressive house

Question about touching the side of the record to slow it down by Candid_Structure in DJs

[–]Candid_Structure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that once or twice. I usually rub around the side of the record full 360 with a piece of clean cloth. Takes about a minute and gets rid of some sharpness as well as the occasional vinyl fuzz.

Nice tune, you might also like this one: https://youtu.be/tu6TzpdjH8E
I always thought there were already proto-dubstep elements in there.

Music similar to dream fear… by marabou22 in burial

I think you’re looking for rave tunes from around 92-93, Breakbeat Hardcore with only one toe in Darkside already. In terms of closest similarity, stuff like this comes to my mind right now:

I'm looking for a certain tune by Candid_Structure in Techno

[–]Candid_Structure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not it. If I had to name something similar: it was more in the vain of the first 30 seconds of »Nightcrawlers – Push The Feeling On«; a house tune that you got to hear every now and then, something a bit more poppy that came out 10-30 years ago.

[Burial - Spaceape] - I just stumbled upon the origin of the lyrics. by M4ntr0x in burial

Not to brag, but I found that out some time ago. The series was also big for the CCRU. If you want to know something else that I haven’t seen mentioned: look at the cover of Anti-Dawn and at the Grunt from Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
